"Oh, well, you see..." the Doctor floundered for a moment, before settling on what he thought was a pretty good excuse, "given that everything else has descended into some sort of... nonsensy nonsense land, the lake very well could be listening."

He thrust his hands into the pockets of his trousers, reminding himself of the hope that said trousers were actually going to dry out sometime soon, and just glanced casually in Soma's direction. What kind of person would be here?

Well, from what the Doctor could tell, he was human. Somehow, that didn't surprise him at all.

"I take it this is all somehow normal to you, is it?"

Excuse accepted! The Doctor found himself grinning. "There we go, then! And I could say the same - been around time and space, seen close enough to everything, I have! This place is probably the oddest thing I've come across. Well..." as if thinking, he swayed lightly from side to side. "One of them at any rate! So!"

Practically bouncing, he stepped over to the man. "That'll make me another prisoner 'til we get it sorted. Nice to meet you, I'm the Doctor."

Rabi had to admit, the sight of someone yelling at bubbles, of all things, was pretty amusing. He had to fight to keep his snickers in check. He did have a point, though: why DID the bubbles do that? It made little sense. Rabi had thought about investigating, so that he could find the source of the bubbles, but he doubted that he could hold his breath that long. He would have to find a source of air before he did that.

For now, he decided to say something to the Doctor. "You know, I would've thought that the one hour of night a day would be the thing to bother you," he commented, keeping his laughter in check but not his grin.

Upon being greeted, the Doctor instinctively straightened his back and turned to continue walking along the makeshift bridge. "Ah, there we go, another thing to look out for," he said, shrugging as he walked towards him. "I haven't been here very long. And me? Bit nosy, me. Want to find out where all the sense has gone."

"It probably got taken away with all of the people when they left," Rabi said, "I bet they wanted it with them, wherever they went."

But then again, Rabi had another thought about why the Void was doing this. The Doctor seemed like a smart guy, maybe he could talk with him about it. "And besides, all of this stuff makes place in someone's world. The one hour of night stuff is from Ryoji's world, for example. It's possible that everything here came from someone else's world."

"Ah, yes," the Doctor agreed. "Limited supply of that sense thing, apparently. Never known it to vacate a whole universe, but then I haven't seen that many parallel universes. Last I saw one, well... let's not go into that."

He scratched the back of his head, recalling that strange world he'd twice now left Rose to live in. He couldn't help but feel a slight personal grudge against the place, no matter how he tried to ignore it.

"Now, you - you that young lad on the computer? Bookman or something?" Not even waiting for him to confirm that, he carried on. "And that? Well, that would make some atom of sense, I suppose. Now, I haven't actually seen this hour of night business yet, but... from that example, I think it's probably quite reasonable to think it's bringing in bits of worlds. Probably trying to fill itself with stuff. You know, universe stuff. 'cause I'm not sure it's an actual universe yet, it doesn't know anything. Things that should just come as default, really. Of course, I'm not in any position to come up with theories, ( ... )
