I AM GOING TO BED BUT HAVE A DOCTOR ANYWAYtimetoursJanuary 22 2010, 22:57:05 UTC
Ah, the Observatory. Bit empty, rather like the labs, but he did rather like the giant telescope in the middle. You couldn't have an observatory without a giant telescope! Of course, there wasn't really much to look at with the telescope, and wasn't quite up to the Doctor's ideal standards, but he didn't particularly mind. After all, whatever was wrong with it could be fixed, no problem!
When he arrived that morning, wondering whether or not a handy piece of sonic technology would do just the trick, he was only mildly surprised to find he wasn't alone.
"Ooh."
Now that was a funny-looking creature - certainly not one the Doctor had seen before, and he'd seen quite a lot of funny-looking creatures. And what was it doing over there, glaring at a BBS terminal?
"Now, what are you doing over there? Typing anything interesting?"
"Ooh, telekinetic and telepathic! Good combo!" the Doctor said, cheerily. Mewtwo's answer may have been curt and somewhat dismissive, but it didn't put the Doctor off pointless babbling. "Pretty decent range, too. Wonder how far it goes? Do you really need to use the bulletin boards? Or is it a case of wanting to do it just because, well, you want to? For the challenge? Boredom?"
asdgh sorry, fixed a typo. a small, maddening typo :BmewandimprovedJanuary 24 2010, 10:22:46 UTC
This strange, cheerful man has earned himself a puzzled frown. Why, Mewtwo wondered, did he care? Was the human assessing his strength?
"I can touch any mind in this place if I choose to," Mewtwo said with a faint trace of boastfulness, "but the bulletin boards have their uses. They are the only way to communicate with those outside." Every one of the Doctor's guesses was correct, but Mewtwo certainly wouldn't confess to doing something for a petty reason like entertainment.
Alice wasn't one to concern herself with others' activities if they didn't concern her first, for the most part. In fact, she wasn't always one to notice what other people were doing in the first place. This individual drew her attention, though -- not, in her case, because of his appearance, but because of what he was doing
( ... )
Mewtwo continued to type for several minutes, either not seeing or ignoring the stranger behind him. It wasn't until he had finished the paragraph he was working on that he stopped and turned his head slightly, watching the girl.
Mewtwo, no better equipped to deal with a social situation than she was, waited for her to make the first move.
Once he turned his eye on her, Alice realized what she was doing. "Ah. Excuse me," she said. And, when that seemed a bit inadequate in the face of this person's -- it was definitely a person, right? -- cold regard, added, "I've been wondering about these things myself."
She looked past him for a moment, running her gaze briefly over what he had written. Thoughtful, she asked, "Is it so difficult?"
Mewtwo rose from the ground and turned to face her properly, his eyes lingering suspiciously on the doll. So, this one wasn't an ordinary human.
"It wouldn't be if these humans had come up with a system that makes sense," Mewtwo said, his frustration colouring his telepathy slightly. "Most of it is quite simple, but some aspects will take a little more time understand."
Nozomi hummed, carrying a pad of paper and a pen that she'd borrowed from the supply warehouses, as she walked into the room. Upon seeing Mewtwo at the computer, she stopped, her clipboard and pen clattering to the floor.
"M-Mewtwo-san!" Nozomi flailed and put one hand over her Pinky Catch. "You're not going to stop me from finding the best way to get to the moons!" Did he even look like he was trying to do that?
Mewtwo watched her humourlessly for a moment before turning his back to her. "Why do you wish to reach the moons?" he asked a few seconds after the typing had resumed. He wanted her to see that she was no longer necessary for him to use the system.
"
(A ridiculous deception; they are one and the same. Catastrophe follows this one, but there may be a use for her.)
He was only typing at a fraction of his normal speed. despite the show he was trying to put on, his attention was mostly focused on the potential danger behind him, the pink-haired child whose behaviour he couldn't understand or predict for the life of him.
The fact that he wasn't going to take over her mind again was a relief, and on a normal occasion, she would think that typing with your mind was the coolest thing ever. Still, Mewtwo had shown himself not to be a very nice person, and in fact to be dangerous, so she was at least attempting to be cautious.
"Because I miss Winry-san and the others," she explained. "I think they're stuck there."

"Why?" he asked, casting her a glance. The way people disappeared concerned even him, although he wouldn't acknowledge it. If Nozomi somehow knew something...

"It is nothing of importance," his psychic voice spoke in the Doctor's mind. "I am familiarizing myself with this device."
