Born in Germany, Monika is all competitive spirit and colorful attitude. She's got confidence to spare, though she's not without her faults and insecurities. She's a seventeen year old girl, after all. Her father was a candymaker who moved his family to the United States to seek more opportunities for himself and his family. Monika, in turn, decided to follow in his footsteps. But first, it was off to school for a good education.
America has suited Monika, and nowadays, it's difficult to tell that she's not native born. She prefers it that way, and likes to think that it keeps people on their toes. She has her own creative flair and loves surprising people with whatever tricks she might have up her sleeve. However, as a candymaker working with hot candy on a regular basis, her hands have become scarred from frequent burns. Once her fierce opponent (who she ended up defeating), Suwabara Kai found her hands beautiful and won her heart. She ignores the surly, intimidating face Kai puts on and often attacks him in the hallways at school, jumping on his back and squealing happily.
Relatively friendly, Monika makes friends easily enough. She can be cynical and rather blunt to the point of rudeness, but she hardly ever means any harm by it. Unless you mess with her boyfriend (who would mess with you back before she could do anything about it, really) she'll most likely have no problem warming right up to you.
