Ohh how awesome! Do you work for one of the big 4 firms, or the little whatever number it is now?
I was told raises should be pretty good this year, even though the economy isn't the greatest. My friends at my old firm are expecting 10 - 15%! They are outside of DC though, which is always different than the rest of the country.
We just had our market meeting which showed we were a little down on revenues this year, especially due to AS5 (internal controls guidance), and well, being in the Michigan market. My raises have historically been on that high end, but this year we were told not to expect such things. There or in our bonus (if we get one.)I'm also up for promotion this year which should help overcome the normal downturn in the raise spectrum. We'll see though.
According to my old firm, a lot of the revenues that they've been getting in the past are going down due to systems being in place. A large portion of the revenue was from consulting. This is the #5 firm (I was rubbed the wrong way by 3 of the 4 big 4 and my ex worked for the 4th one).
Things are different in DC though ... the starting salaries are higher in most places and the competition is EXTREMELY high. Before I left, we had lost 10 of our 13 senior associates, and 2 of our 5 managers.
