transforming anger

Any suggestions for meditation or magic to transform angry feelings into something more useful? I've been feeling angry at a lot lately, and I want to transform that energy into something that's not stomping around throwing a tantrum.

If you're looking for something other than passive meditation, you might try chanting the nembutsu, "Namo Amida Bu" or there abouts depending on the language and pronunciation used. This is typically the practice of Pure Land Buddhists in Japan, with other nations in East Asia using their own language and pronunciation ( ... )

They would largely depend on the cause(s) of your anger. Sure there are general techniques for such things but true alchemy depends on the ingredients.

...I think that *looking* at the anger is important, especially from a biddhst viewpoint: are you angry because you feel threatened, or something else feels threatened and you are protective toeards it...? Are you angry because you're feeling somebody else's anger and mistaking it for yours...? Are you seeing stuff that brings up resentment because somebody seems to be getting something you're not...? If you look at the anger calmly, you can see the roots of it, and that gives you much more insight into what's needed...good luck with it!
