It is, without question, normal.
Also, one thing that I've found that REALLY helps the metabolism instead of coffee. First thing in the morning, drink a liter of ice cold water. It shocks the metabolism into running a bit faster.. reducing the desire for any kind of caffiene. Also, if you aren't taking a multivitamin, I'd recommend that. Knees and legs bugging you? Pick up a bulk container of glucosamine/chondroitin from wally world. It will be an absolute lifesaver with the running.
