A few weeks ago I let my dog go. I've had her since I was in 4th grade (I just graduated college in December). She's been my baby girl for so long that I feel empty with out her. I'm trying to move on. it helps that I don't live in the house I did with her now. I still miss her so much. I am wanting to put together a sort of memorial for her ( Read more... )

I put up a few of my favorite pictures of my cat in nice frames and arranged them on a table in our living room. It really helped me to have pictures of her around. Eventually that just dwindled down to one favorite picture, but its still up. It was nothing big, but it was enough to help me through those tough days.

my dog died when i was in 8th grade and we had him for 9 1/2 years. i didnt think i could ever let him go. his owners threw him out of the house when he was a year old because he was 1/2 in too short to be in the next dog show. so we rescued him and he was the best dog weve ever had. then he got a liver problem and there wa nothing we could do to help him, so we had to put him down. i thought about him all the time. my dad had us put everything that reminded us of him away because my dad had lost his pets all the time and was sick of losing them. then we got another akita puppy which took our mind off of bushi for a while, until our new dog, rogue, got really hyper and can never calm down. but i still have pictures of bushi everywhere and i could never forget him. just a little story i felt like sharing lol.

You're lucky that you have the pictures. My computer crashed shortly before my cat died, so that was horrible losing all the pictures I had of my best friend.
You should get one of those picture frames where you can put a lot of pictures inside; like 5 pictures in one frame. Each picture should be of a different time during your lives; like when you first got her, when you were in your teens, etc. That would be sweet, and even put in a hair clipping or pawprint if you have one.
I'm so sorry about what happened, and I promise that things will eventually get easier.

Every Monday, there is a candle ceremony you can participate in. I lost my little girl on 3/1/06 to a stroke (i had to put her down on account of being paralysed from the neck down)It helped to know that at the same time all around the world, people were lighting a candle in memory of their pets. it helped me heaps and there is also a forum on there where you can share your story and get support.
