lady doc recommendations?

Jun 30, 2012 23:10

Looking for a recommendation for a gynocologist, preferably in the city of Buffalo (I'm located in EV). My requirements are:

- female
- taking new patients
- accepts BCBS
- is not a raging cunt (I've had a few of these before, and it makes an appointment that I already dread even worse).

Suggestions, or people to steer clear of? Any input is much

obgyn

I'm always giving this recommendation, but I can't say enough wonderful things about the Nurse Midwifery Associates of WNY. Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to be doing any birthing to see midwives. They do all the regular gyn stuff that a doctor would do. I've been going to them for years just for annuals and birth control and stuff. And they did help me birth my daughter, too. They are wonderful women who aren't judgy at all. I know they're always open to new patients and have accepted the three different insurances I've had over the years, including BCBS. They're on the corner of Summer and Main, near the Summer St. Cat Clinic.

They're going through a major overhaul at the moment and may not be taking new patients (call to check, though!). One of the midwives is leaving and the other two decided to drop all births that take place after the end of the July. Tons of ladies in their care are currently scrambling for a new care provider.

Oh no! Which one is leaving? I'm way overdue for my annual and I keep forgetting to make my appointment.

I had similar drama with finding a doctor/practice I didn't hate. Debra Devine at Lifetime Health is wonderful. I think she's only a nurse practitioner/PA but she was really good with me. Addressed all my concerns, was gentle during exam, etc.

I just moved back from Rochester for good, and figure it's the perfect excuse to leave the shitty practice I've been going to there... I used to see an NP there who was fabulous, but who has since retired. I once had a doctor that left me in tears, she was so rude and rough during my examination, and the response from the practice was to assign me to the doctor that specializes in young teens and first time patients. (I'm 28 and have had routine pelvic exams since age 14). The last doc I saw there was great, but they fucked up the billing with my insurance company, and I was going back and forth with them over it for over a year. TIME FOR A NEW DOCTOR.

Thanks for the recommendation - I'll be looking into it for sure! :)

I go to Southtowns Women's. They also have an office on Lawn Ave. Dr. Michelle Frech is the doctor but there are several female doctors and a nurse practitioner there too.

I love love love my OB/GYN. She's Dr. Lynn Aronica. She just took care of me through my pregnancy and delivery. She's great at listening to your concerns and gives you a sense of calm. She's at Mercy OB/GYN in south Buffalo.

I have a good experience with the doctors and nurses at Planned Parenthood (on Main Street near the Amherst Street Rail Station). I find them to be much easier to deal with than going to a regular practice. I am not sure what insurance plans they accept, though.
