SUV: Terror on the Suburban Frontier

Driving down the back roads of suburban Maryland is very different from trailblazing down the vast frontier of the Colorado Rockies. When I leave my middle class cul-de-sac to head to class in my blue ’95 Ford Taurus, I never feel like I’m out on a great migration down the Oregon Trail. Yet this seems to be the case for many American drivers.

Does the American consumer really need to have a vehicle that can withstand the rigors of life on the great frontier?

Does the American consumerr really need most of the crap that the American consumer buys? Fuck no. We're all really guilty of this, whether it be SUV's, video games, the latest goddamn diet fad, or whatever. It's just who we are, neo-capatilist brainwashed suckers.

You're a good writer, but why would you be forced to write an essay on SUVs in college?

The size of the car doesn't bother me so much as the horrors these things are inflicting on our environment.

I don't know why i never saw this post. Good for you; someone needs to put those fools in their place. You seem to do it better than I, backing up your arguments with facts. As a scientist, I should know better, but I do have a tendency to just open my ick glands and let loose.
