Waiting outside of your hotel room was not what you had in mind when you decided to go with your friend Katy to Japan. Katy promised a lot of fun, and since she’d been there before, you believed her. You thought she would show you the sights and introduce you to her friends there, and you thought that she would make sure that you enjoyed yourself. Boy, were you wrong. It had been over 5 hours since you last saw her, and your final words still echoed in your mind:

“Sure you can spend some time alone with your friends tonight. I don’t want to intrude. Really, go out and have fun. Don’t worry about me.”

Your happy attitude disappeared the minute she did and only got worse when you realized that your key was missing. It was just perfect that you didn’t know anyone, didn’t know Japanese and had no way of getting in touch with Katy because she never answers her phone. Honestly, why have a phone if you’re not going to use it?

It was 12am now, and still feeling a little jet-lagged from the flight, you wanted nothing more than to lie down on your soft warm bed, pull the sheets up to your chin and drift off. Unfortunately, dozing in and out of sleep sitting against the hotel wall would have to do for now. Katy would be back soon. She had to come back soon…unless…she drank. If she had any alcohol at all, she would definitely go home with someone else. That’s just the way she was.

Thinking about your bed kept you calm enough for the first and second hour of waiting, but now you were just annoyed. Annoyed with Katy for abandoning you and annoyed with your own issues when it came to losing things. You had the ability to lose anything and everything. Being a little absent minded was no big deal usually. Tonight was definitely an exception.

“WHAT?!?!” you snapped at an innocent person who barely tapping you on the shoulder.

You look up and instantly regret your hasty reaction as you are looking into the dark yet excited eyes of THE MASUDA TAKAHISA. He just stares at you for a moment before mumbling something that sounds like “I’m sorry” before quickly turning and almost running away.

Oh my god, you think to yourself. Way to go loser! He’s the hottest member of NEWS and I just totally yelled at him for nothing. I had a chance to meet him for real, and I completely blew it. This night just keeps sucking more and more!

After trying to recover from the humiliation and the lost opportunity of the encounter you realize that you’re also starving. You stumble to the vending machines sleep-deprived, food-deprived and mentally cursing yourself when SMACK!!! A male chest seems to materialize out of nowhere. You try and play it off cool, but you can’t maintain your balance for long… falling over onto your rear. To your surprise…Masuda is the man you’ve offended…again! He quickly bends down to help you up while almost yelling, “I’m sorry! Are you ok? Are you hurt? I’m so sorry!” He seems more shocked than you do by the collision.

You manage an, “I’m fine” although all other words have left you. You feel like a fangirl again, and screaming and squealing seem like your only options. Snap out of it! Must regain speech!

“I’m sorry for yelling at you earlier, and I’m really sorry for running into you just now. I’m doing a great job at being the rudest person alive right?” you slightly raise your eyes to see his reaction.

“Actually”, you hear him say “I’d like to know why you were so upset earlier”.

“HUH?” you say a little louder than you would have liked. “What do you mean?”

“Well, I saw you sitting there for awhile, and you looked like you where about to burst into tears or murder someone, maybe both. I found myself being really interested in what would make someone so upset. I got curious enough to ask you, and that’s when you bit my head off.”

You immediately drop your head in embarrassment. “Oh…yeah…I’m a pretty big loser sometimes. My emotions sometimes explode if I don’t watch them close enough. Once, I lashed out at an old lady who barely bumped me while getting off the bus just because I spilled coffee on myself about two seconds before. I ended up buying her dinner. I spend all my money on fixing the results of my outbursts”. Keep rambling…that’ll impress him “So…to answer you question…” you offer a slightly embarrassed smile, but he doesn’t seem to mind at all. In fact he seems incredibly focused on every word you are saying.

You tell him your story about being locked out, and he nods along while continuing to stare at you. Am I blushing?  It would be so much easier to maintain eye contact with him if my legs didn’t feel wobbly while I did it.

“Would you like to go get some food with me?” he breaks in.

“HUH?” you shout again. Why do I keep doing that?!?”

“Well, it sounds like you could use a good meal” He’s not even calling me a loser. Sweet! “I don’t think there are any restaurants close by that are open right now, but I could order room service though. This place has really good food for a hotel”. You try to understand as he begins to ramble on about foods you’ve never heard of. He really begins grinning like a crazy man for something called gyoza.

He finishes and gives you a hopeful look.  Should I really just go and stay in his room. I know he’s famous, but I don’t really know him.

It’s almost like he reads your thoughts because seconds later his eyes widen and he says, “We don’t have to eat in my room if you don’t want to! We could eat in the hallway or something. I feel like I owe you. After all, I did knock YOU down”. He flashes a smile at you, but it’s not really his trademark smile. Somehow, you know that he means this smile.

You nod and agree. After all, I am starving. Who better to eat with?!?

“By the way, my name is Masuda Takahisa. Uh…you can just call me Massu though”

In all the commotion you hadn’t realized that names had not been traded yet. You decide it’s best for him to not think of you as a fangirl, so you fight the urge to say that you know his name and many other random facts about him. You give him your name hoping he doesn’t think it sounds stupid. He gets a puzzled look on his face like he’s thinking something over before grinning again and saying, “haha that’s cute!” did he just call me cute!?!?

You both arrive at his room after talking about your flight, Katy, and Massu’s night out for his friend’s birthday, and you begin to think it might be alright to just sit in his room. He seems nice enough. Plus, you took some kickboxing classes, so you could do some serious damage to him if you had to. You decide to enter the room the minute you see inside of it. This place is HUGE!!! There is a living room area with a giant flat screen TV, a kitchen with barstools, a hall way that leads to a double bedroom and another hallway that leads to a giant bathroom/dressing room from the looks of it. You wander to the couch and take a seat, your mouth still making an “O” shape.

Massu just chuckles and says, “Make yourself at home” before getting a couple of glasses out of a cupboard in the kitchen. You blush again at your hastiness. He notices and offers you a smile, which only makes you blush harder.

“Would you like something to drink?” he offers.

“Oh no thank you…I don’t drink” you reply. Loser! Way to act mature!

“Yeah I’m just having water” you smile and ask for the same once you babble on for about five minutes about your views on drinking. Wow, I must seem like the biggest nerd on the planet.

Massu surprises you again by saying, “It’s weird, but I feel the same way. I try to avoid it if I can”.  We have something in common! We’re both drinking nerds!!! Yay!

Just then your phone rings almost making you fall off the couch. Smooth. It’s Katy. “Hey …uh…I’m not gonna *hic* be able to make it *hic* back tonight. Sorry. I’ll *hic* see ya tomorrow though *hic* sometime”. You start telling her about your key situation, but it’s too late. All you hear is silence and then a dial tone. She is in sooooooooo much trouble when she gets back!

“Um…” amidst all your renewed anger you’d almost forgotten Massu was still in the room staring at you. “I’m sorry, but I kinda overheard. Do you wanna spend the night?”

You gape at him with wide eyes and mouth before he quickly adds “Oh! Not like THAT! I just meant that you needed a place to SLEEP. I have a spare room, and you could use it if you like. It locks from the inside and everything” He inhales after saying this all in one breathe. He’s so cute when he’s embarrassed

“Ok…I guess I could stay…for one night…” you look at him, and he is beaming with joy and relief. “I could really use the sleep, and I don’t think I can find a nicer place than this with…um nicer…company” He smiles bigger, which you did not think was humanly possible.

“The FOOD!!!” you shout. Think before blurting next time!!!

“HUH?” it’s his turn to yell. “Oh! I didn’t even order it yet. I’m sorry. Let me do that now” He starts fumbling with the phone while murmuring to himself about something that sounds like baka.

“It’s ok” you yawn. “I’ll just go lay down for a minute while you order that”

“Yeah…sure...” he says distractedly while looking at a menu.

The second your head hits the pillow it’s over. You’re so out of it that you don’t even hear Massu stroll in with a cart of food before realizing that you are fast asleep. You don’t notice anything when he lays a blanket gently over you, and you have no idea of how he bends down close to your ear, whispers “sleep tight”, and places a soft kiss on your cheek.
