It's time's like these I wish I could follow my own advice...

I'm glad that Casey had found a new friend, really glad but it was almost lonely without her tonight. Strange, you had encouraged your sister to go out and make new friends and now you can't follow the example? After Casey left with Savannah, I didn't go home. It would only be more lonely to have a looming pile of homework to do. These days, I ( Read more... )

Guitar case in tote, and tiny headphones set in my ears, I walked down the street after playing a gig at a coffeehouse down the road.

I just wasn't ready to go back to my apartment. Maybe because it's quiet there. A little too quiet.

I walked past the bookstore, in a zone.. but something told me to turn around and go in.

I opened the door, and walked in. Acknowledging a passing person with a small smile, I tried to keep my guitar close to me. The last thing I needed to do was swing around and knock an entire display over.

Talk about embarassment.

I carefully tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear, and casually stole glances at the various people in the store.

I stopped, just as a guy was walking past me. I turned trying to make sure I wasn't in the way, but ended up making things worse, as my guitar swung right into him.

I pulled the headphones out of my ears, and cringed.

"Oh my god, I am so sorry."

The girl's guitar made a soft thud against my side, making me drop my book in surprise, but it didn't hurt. She still looked embarrassed as if she had been a total klutz or something.

"It's okay, really. No damage done." I gave a small smile towards her.

The guitar reminded me even more of Casey. "You play a lot?" I asked the girl at least attempting the concept of communication.

I hung the black wire headphones around my neck and adjusted my guitar.

"I was just thinking about how I didn't want to knock a display over, and then I go and hit someone." I laughed softly as I knelt down to pick up his book.

"Oh, yeah. I play all the time in my apartment, but I play usually five gigs or so around town each week." I responded.

Lucky; Alice Sebold

"Good book.. I've read it a couple of times." I mentioned as I handed the book back to him.

"I'm Isabel by the way." I informed him as I extended my hand.

"Thanks," I said as she returned the book. "I'm Mike," I smiled to her, shaking her hand gently.

"I'm sort used to being abused by reckless guitars. My sister plays a lot. She's been trying to find more places to play, but mostly she just plays downtown." I said.

"As for the book, just picked it up. It looks interesting."
