fanfic question

Poll fanfic EDIT: TO CLARIFY, I STARTED THE FIC IN 2008 OR SO AND POSTED 4 PARTS. I THINK MAYBE 7 PEOPLE READ IT. SO I'D BE PULLING A FEW SCENES OUT BETWEEN 2 CHARACTERS AND REWRITING AND STICKING THEM IN A NEW FIC. OH, AND ONE OF THE CHARACTERS WOULD BECOME SOMEONE ELSE. if i even bother to try and do this.

fanfiction, poll, question

Many popular authors reuse huge chunks of books they've already published.

Hiya honey. MWAH!

So ... no. It's not. Particularly if it's something we haven't seen before. Here's the thing: whether we're conscious of it or not, we all reuse things we've done. Whether it's that one perfect phrase we wrote once or a scene we just love to recreate, we all do it. Hell, even Aaron Sorkin does it, and I pretty much worship the quicksand the man built his castle on.

Reuse. Recycle. ;-)

I recycle fics all the time. Caveat, though: I never reuse anything I've actually posted. If one's sitting on my hard drive doing nothing, though, and I figure out part of it can be used for something else, it's fair game.

As long as it's your own fic you're using parts of, then I don't see what the problem is. In fact it means that those parts of fic aren't lost and become part of something new.
