I love the interactions between these two so it may be interesting but in my mind there's still Buffy's a robots thing that I can't just accept or even understand.
Initially I had the impression that they talk about "Spike and Willow" mini, but then I realised that there will be two different minis and each character will have his own journey.
I think DH spreads Buffyverse too thin. Anyway, we'll see.
I think it depends on the way Buffy and Spike will part ways. I hope that Joss use some nasty Twilight-like scenario to separate them.
If they part on a hopeful "maybe some day" note I'll be a happy camper. I never expected a happily ever after for Buffy, and, as soon as they started pushing Spuffy in #6-7, I started to expect something horrible to happen. If they part only because Spike wants Buffy to be happy - well, it's much better than, say, leaving a bride at the altar (Xander), or brainwashing your girlfriend (Willow) or being possessed by an evil entity that makes you sleep with your beloved's son (Cordy)...
We'll see. If Buffy sends him off because she wants normal, I doubt that will be a maybe someday. It sounds to me like a sorry never. I'm sure that a lot of fans will hold out hope that she will change her mind some day, but I agree with Shapinglight that Joss never intended Buffy to end up with a vampire.
I'd love to see "Spike and Willow" mini - but maybe Joss doesn't have an interesting story for them. Or maybe he's afraid that Spike and Willow together will be more interesting than Buffy solo. Anmd he can't allow it.
Well if Buffy's sales keep on dropping, that's for sure, but I'm sure a Willow/Spike title would kick ass. And you don't have to think of a story. Just combine the stories of those 10 mini series together, and there you have it.
We'll see. "Spike and Willow" series has great potential, but it must be a journey kind of a story. I think Lynch tried the right approach to their interaction - it was is bit tongue-in-cheek, but it delved into serious matters.
Since the Spuffy has been pretty good the last few issues, I've been expecting the absolute worst to happen, something so bad that I wouldn't even want them together anymore. Admittedly, it would have to be something spectacularly awful for me to not want Spuffiness, but the only faith that I do have in Joss is for him to ruin things in a horribly tragic way. :-P Just having them say, "Oh, well. Nevermind," will seem anti-climactic to epic proportions.
They went through "horribly tragic" in season 6. It's impossible to surpass the angst and the ultimate triumph of that season, so I think Joss won't even try to do it.
I wondered if Spike could kill Simone, and that would trigger him to quit. But I doubt it.
Firstly let me say that Spike will get on fire in #10, probably by Simone. We left him at a gas station in #9, and Scott tweeted that he was writing Spike and that he "was smoking a lot". I'm almost 100% sure about that, like I was about Andrew spiking Buffy's drink when I saw the panels in #1, and I was proven correct.
Another speculation is that Spike will kill Simone, and that will be the factor that will make Buffy rethink where they stand and that she'll decide she can't have a vampire as a boyfriend. I'm not sure about that, but if Simone doesn't make it at the end of this arc, it will be because of Spike's hand, not Buffy's.
*shudders* Poor guy, writers can't give him a break!
Something will definitely happen in #10 to make Spike leave. Apparently, DH wants to test how many readers Spike can attract solo. Depending on that number they'll decide if he'll return to BtVS, cross over to A&F or stay solo.

Ooo...that would be good. Of course, that means it definitely won't happen. :-P
