I actually just read Anne of Windy Poplars again. Maybe that's what started me thinking about it. So can you think of any others?

All I could find for this

Topsy turvy

Meaning:To flip over or be upside down.
Example:The car rolled over and ended up topsy turvy.
Origin:Turvy is an old word that has fallen out of common usage meaning "to invert"

Making money hand over fist

Meaning: Making a lot of money fast.
Example: Since I joined that pyramid club, soon I'll be making money hand over fist.
Origin:If you had a large pile of money in front of you free for the taking, you would use one hand to grab a wad of money and then transfer that wad to your other hand to hold the money. The first hand is then free to grab some more money.
The hand holding the money would of course be clenched in a fist to hang on to it.

I was up by 7 or 7:30, I think. The sun comes in and Bambi is ready to go out, so I have to get up even if I don't want to. I was definitely standing and dressed by 8 ish cause I worked out and showered and went for a walk around the block all before 11 ish.

I didn't think of any just Googled them. There are many rumours for old sayings though that are wrong so you have to know history to know what is wrong. Such as the rumour FUCK meaning Fornicating under consent of the king. This is not true as it was supposed to be from the times in China when you were not allowed to fornicate unless the King allowed. The reason this is a rumour because the time set for the alleged sex ban was when China was ruled by Emperors.

I thought it was from the Victorian era, when police officers arrested men with prostitutes "for unlawful carnal knowledge" and just used the initials when they wrote them up.
