prompt: Randall Malone

The Ghost

Randall Malone tiptoes along the length of the silvery trailer, his face side-lit by moonlight. He extends a shivering hand and plants it against the metal, presses his nose against a window. Seeing Ennis DelMar for the first time does not suffuse him with the cold, metallic, angry feeling he has ( Read more... )

Very interesting take on Randall. I can imagine he wouldn't see anything much special about Ennis for Ennis didn't present much of himself to the casual observer. It took Jack to bring out his better side...and Jack took it with him when he died.

I really liked this part: "And that would prove once and for all what a special man he must be if someone as pretty as Jack Twist could love him. How funny is it that Jack's loving him made Randall feel special while Jack loving Ennis only made Ennis feel wrong. So very sad...

Great job here, though. Thanks for posting.

Who's the ghost here? Jack, who's dead? Randall, who loved a man who never loved him and moaned another's name? Or Ennis, who learned to show his love too late and slowly dies because of it?
Thanks. Carole

I like this. That Randall figured Ennis to be more of a God than a man is so true of jealousy. Very sad and romantic with Randall as a witness to Jack's longing. Touching indeed. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice Sunday evening and keep drabbling. We like it. A lot. :)

Yeas Randell was the lucky one he didn't die with Jack, Ennis did.
Thank you, its good to read about thoughts of the other people involved in the life's of Jack and Ennis.
Nobody left behind was untouched by Jacks death in one way or another.
Each one had their own ghost haunting them.
Thank you for sharing.

There is nothing special about Ennis DelMar. He is just an ordinary man.

I believe most people in Ennis' life thought that, too. Just one persistent Jack Twist was lucky enough to understand there was more to the man.

Your writing is so powerful - I LOVE IT!
