Waking up

Nov 30, 2005 15:08

It was more comfortable, a soft darkness. No sound. Just floating.

But slowly, a crack of light starting coming through, getting brighter and hotter. It hurt, burning my brain.

"Ayyy" I yelled in my near-sleeping state.

I could hear beeping, and monitor noises behind me.

What was going on.

I just peeked in through her door not even noticing that I was chewing on my finger nails. This was my fault.

Hearing her cries I ran in and took her hand, "Mommy? It's ok. You'll be ok."

I heard Joyce cry out and rushed into the room. "Joyce, what is it?" I asked now concerned that this was more than a a simple illness, or rather a not so simple illness.

I hadn't noticed Dawn sitting next to her, I felt horrible that I hadn't noticed sooner, I was just concerned about Joyce and what was harming her. "Dawn..." I said simply not sure what else to say. "Where is Buffy?" I finally ask, she should be here.

I looked between the two of them.

"Hi Dawnie, hi Rupert. What happened?" I was tired, and my head throbbed.

I had the sinking feeling I was back in the hospital.

"You don't recall anything?" I asked curious. I was worried about her even further now.

"You and I were talking then you suddenly colapsed." I told her rather matter of factly. I didn't know what else to do, facts always did come easy to me, I believe I felt comfortable in knowing the details, the unknown things only made me worry. "We had to rush you here" I finally added as I pulled myself out of my thoughts.

After speaking to Dr Porter I went back into Mrs Summers' room to check on her. I found that she was awake, and a young girl I presumed was her daughter was by her side, along with Mr Giles. I definitely got the vibe from him that he wanted to be more than just a family friend ( ... )

I watched the doctor leave, not at all sure what I should have said.

"See Dawn, it's probably nothing." I looked at Rupert with worry in my eyes that I was unwilling to show my daughter.

"Just a quick overnight stay, and a test next week. I'm sure it's just a few headaches." I smiled, trying to reassure those around me.

"Where's Buffy?"

My legs felt heavier than they have ever felt before, it could of been the sight of my mother in a hospital chair again or the fact she seemed to be in pain or at least holding it back. I couldn't help but swallow as I heard her call out for me, that in itself made me feel two feet tall and deep in my own fear. I tried to stand up tall as I walked right beside her before reaching for her hand and smiling ( ... )

I smiled as my oldest reached for my hand "See Joyce, no matter what they say, she's just fine" I thought to myself, through the now less than blinding headache.

"Thank you Dr." I nodded to Ben and sent a look to Giles to find out what they thought tomorrow. That, and to look at the the girls' first, and then me. I hoped he understood.

"Don't worry girls," I gave them the ol' mom smile "As soon as I'm set in a bed, you guys can come in. And maybe eat my jello..." I smiled bigger.

This wouldn't be so bad. They'd find out what was up, right?
