I <3 Mangoes

I'm as mango challenged as you are. I keep buying them and only once has it been an amazing experience. Now I try to go for cutting too early instead of too late, since if it's slightly too early, I'll just blend it with yogurt, vanilla, and ice and make a weird milkshake-thing. Too late and it's horrible.

The Baba and Ambar Indian restaurants have mango lassi yogurt drinks. I don't know how they make them but they are fantastic. I also don't want to know how they make them. I would like to think forever that they have family back home that ships them in daily from the trees in their backyards.

we had an intern here for a while who was from India, and he said he has not found a good mango in this country. He would have relatives ship him mango's from India. Where he was from, people would travel across India to get there mango's.
Hyderabad I think is the area. He also said there is a Biryani shop in Chicago called Hyderabad Biryani on Ganhdi rd. that is the best in the US for Biryani, which people would also travel to hyderabad for.

I wasn't sure initially whether you meant the fruit or the vegetable. :-) (At least, S. claims that everyone in Ohio calls peppers "mangoes"...?)

That is true. I've never figured exactly out what parts of the country do this but I'm from Kentucky and very few people where I grew up called them that. Everyone knew someone who did though.
