Yay for UMBC, unicycles, and Linux!

You might try Knoppix, the version of Linux which runs off of a CD. And then there are many other versions of Linux that can run on Windows machines if you have the space. Of course you probably know so much more about Linux than I do.

And of course, money is always very nice.
