An open letter to Michael Caine.

Dear sir,

Let me first say that you are a veritable acting genius, and I fucking love you. But please, please stop fueling the rumors for the third Batman movie. Please. Just because you say that you "heard" a studio exec claim that the only way to top Heath's performance is to cast Johnny Depp as the Riddler and Phillip Seymour Hoffman as the ( Read more... )

NOBODY CAN BE THE FUCKING RIDDLER AFTER JIM CARREY.

The rest of the movie sucked, by I stick by my verdict- HE WAS BRILLIANT.

Love ya, Jim!

Ah. Well. I have a personal vendetta against Jim Carrey, but I agree that nobody else should be the Riddler. I mean, there shouldn't even be another Riddler. One is definitely enough. :P

I agree completely.
I love Johnny, he's my favorite actor, but no. He's not the Riddler. I really don't want Riddler back, even though he's one of my favorite villans.

I think the next movie should totally have a lesser-known villan. Have these film makers try something new.

BUT YES, bring back Harvey Dent.

Exactly! Johnny's been my favorite actor for around five years now, but he's just not Batman material.

And that's exactly right - they're reused enough villains already. Let's get a new one, an appropriate one for what this next movie needs to be about.

WHICH IS HARVEY HARVEY HARVEY DENT.

In my opinion. :D

That would be AWESOME. But wasn't it "confirmed" that Harvey IS dead? :(

Yeah, Aaron Eckhart confirmed it :P I think Nolan's making a huge mistake, though, and he's going to regret killing Harvey off like that. :P

I totally and utterly disagree with you and would like to point something out--Johnny's a bigger actor than Heath ever would've been. Naturally, he'd be billed before Heath would have.

And he'd be perfect in the Nolanverse. (Secret Window, anyone?) True, I'm a Marvel girl. Also true, I don't know much about the Riddler...but really.

If it's going to happen, it's going to happen. It may not top Heath, but it will be good.

Yeah, I know that, and that's exactly why he'll never be cast for real. And it's not that he'd be billed before Heath - he'd be billed before Christian, and that's a big no-no. Christian's been billed first for the past two movies - he is NOT going give that up for a third one. And Johnny Depp's not bitchy enough (like Jack Nicholson, hrm hrm) to ask for it.

I still say no. While Johnny's movie roles are eclectic, there's just no way he'd fit into Nolanverse. If he did, he'd have to be something other than a villain, and I just can't see that at all. If anything, I'd give him a cameo, because as soon as he's cast in a Batman movie, it'll stop being a Batman movie and start being a Johnny Depp movie, and I don't want that to happen.

Johnny wouldn't ask to be billed before Christian; it'd just HAPPEN. That's not exactly his decision to make. He's Johnny Depp, though. It's going to happen.

Sorry, babe, but you'll more than likely be seeing it. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the studio execs are definitely desperate to at least have another Bats movie with HALF the success of Dark Knight. Who's the only actor right now that could give them that?

...you guessed it. Johnny. Like it or not. And I have every confidence that he'd be GREAT as a Nolanized Riddler. Combination of Sweeney Todd and Morton Rainey and the actual Riddler. And Phillip Seymour Hoffman? Don't EVEN get me started.

If you call yourself a Depp fan, then how can you have no faith in Johnny for this role? Forget your allegiances to Bats. Forget any other allegiances, except Johnny. ...I'd be ashamed to not have any confidence or at least not be willing to give him a shot. Everyone deserves a chance.

People are going to see this movie (if there even is one) whether or not Johnny Depp is in it, and I still predict that he won't. Have you seen his IMDB credit list? He has too many projects in the works; they're never going to find a big enough time slot to fit into his schedule ( ... )

I completely agree.

I love Johnny Depp as an actor, but he should definitely not be in Batman.

Also, I agree that they should bring a villain in that isn't as well known too.
HARVEY DENT FOR SURE.

I just said this in another comment, but I shall say it again!

As soon as Johnny Depp is cast in a Batman movie, it will stop being a Batman movie and start being a Johnny Depp movie. And that just can't happen. :P

LONG LIVE HARVEY DENT.
