Data Sora vs. the Real Deal
Much like the real Sora, Data Sora is replicated as the island dwelling boy who longed to go see other worlds beyond. But aside from the comparable personality and world travels, that's as far as the similarities go.
☒ "Riku" was not the bestie led astray by darkness, but instead, is the chosen protector of Jiminy's Journal and inheritor of all the data recorded inside. In other words, he's technically the Journal itself, wearing KH1 Riku's form. Because of this, Data Sora did not have to worry about a lost/comatose friend and solely concentrated on helping out King Mickey.

√ Real Sora: Only went along with Donald and Goofy, at first, to find his two missing friends.
√ Data Sora: Went along with a mere voice from the outside who asked for help smashing weird blocks. Are you going crazy yet, Sora?
☒ Speaking of friends, whatever happened to Kairi? In all the other Kingdom Hearts series, Kairi is considered as Sora's light, and yet she was only mentioned once in Re:coded. Very interesting. aka. Nomura, you are a completely biased man.

√ Real Sora: Kairi is the sole memory that Sora grasped onto even after his memories got jumbled up to pieces in Chain of Memories. It is also because of her that he managed to pull through the darkness when he became a Heartless in KH1. So much love, so much.
√ Data Sora: He has only uttered her name once in Castle Oblivion when Data Riku showed him a piece of his own memory. And when his own memories were lacking he, once again, relied on voices from the outside. There was no one next to him during the time like the real Sora had in CoM. Of course, not that he doesn't like Kairi, it's more like... she wasn't even there to begin with. :|
☒ He's purely made of data, found out early on in his timeline, and was totally okay with it. It didn't matter what he was, as long as he could help out his friends.

√ Real Sora: He's a real boy with a heart, and has a real keyblade to boot. Though it had chosen Riku (the one who had actually went through a real Keyblade Inheritance Ceremony in the past) for a short while, it came back to him when he realized his friends were his power. He eventually turned the Keyblade of People's Hearts on himself to release Kairi's heart from within him, and turned himself into a Heartless as a result.
√ Data Sora: Just made of zeros and ones, and for a while, his keyblade was too--a device digitized by Chip and Dale to help him bash those Journal bugs. After Maleficent crushed his to data dust, he went weaponless for the majority of his visit at Hollow Bastion until the real keyblade had chosen him when he wanted to help out his friends in a pinch. It's also noted because his components are binary, he lacks a heart, and even once questioned that sinking feeling in his chest when he was sad, an action quite similar to Roxas in 358/2 Days. Though just like the real Sora and to an extent, Roxas, all three are thoroughly capable of caring for others. Also, Sora's Heartless did exist in the journal, but only by pre-recorded means. Data Sora didn't actually turn into a Heartless himself.
☒ It's the same old Sora as ever, only a lot more snarkier, and in a sense, less irritable.

√ Real Sora: During CoM, it was very easy to rile him up and was often irritable by his lack of memories, though they were false for the most part. He's also gone through a bit of a tiff with Donald during their journey, and made up after their task ended in the Deep Jungle.
√ Data Sora: Though he could not remember mostly everyone he saw in the simulated world rooms, he felt very sad for the most part and decided to carry that burden because it was a reminder of the friends he once met but didn't recall. In one instance, he also acted like a big brother with Huey, Dewey and Louie, telling them to 'skedaddle' back to Cid who was looking for them during the Traverse Town bug infestation.
ex. "Hello, bridge!"
"I feel... flat."
"Just what I've always wanted..."
"Okay, be back faster than you can say bug spray!"
Sora: Hey, do you think you could help us?
Cloud: Why should I?
Sora: Huh? But... wh... Yeesh. Hey... wait. Are you scared?
