Availability and OOC info!

Sorry I haven't been around in a few days, but RL has smacked me around a lot recently. I'll have my boys back to speed tonight, though, so things are stabilizing slightly.

And now to make like a sheep and write up an info post! Which is something that sheep do not do in the wild, for the record.

The Tick: The Tick was once the mightiest superhero of a fictional city called... THE CITY! The place was crawling with superheroes and supervillians, but the villains were there mostly because nearly all of the superheroes were completely incompetant. This changed when The Tick arrived.

The Tick is 7' tall, 400 pounds, as strong as is necessary by plot, is nigh invulnerable, and devoted to Justice. His mind works a bit perpendicular to the minds of most people, so he may sometimes seem dumb and it may take him some time to grasp certain concepts, and he talks very strangely. Don't mistake that for stupidity, though. The cartoon version of The Tick (which is my chosen canon, although I have thrown in some background from the comics) is actually somewhat intelligent in his own way. Spend any time with him and you'll note his ability to weave a complex and generally completely bizarre metaphor that actually makes sense when it has no right to.

The Tick is the Dean of Students at Fandom High. This means that he is responsible for student related issues, specifically the ones that Principal Washburn doesn't have time/want to handle. In actuality, that's because I'm usually at work when you people are getting into trouble and I can only play a little there on the best of days. Anyway, he will have office hours at least once a week (in the evening... took me an entire semester to figure that one out), but if you have special need of him during the day, I'll do what I can if you leave a message on Tick's office voicemail. He will also once again be responsible for running detentions and the bi-weekly assemblies among other events.

Peter Parker: Peter Parker comes from the comic book Ultimate Spider-Man. When I pulled him from canon (right after issue 91), he had been a superhero for nearly a year, dealt with several major tragedies in his life that he had played a direct part in, broken up with his first love, and somehow came out of it all not twitching in a dark corner somewhere. His has one and only one mechanical webshooter in Fandom and a version of his temporary black costume (courtesy of SHIELD) just in case he ever needs to dress up to do heroics.

In the game, it is no secret from most of the the students that Peter has super powers. Peter realized that game was over a month into his life in Fandom. He's utilized his powers in public enough times that there are only three secrets he's kept from the general public: 1) his spider-sense (a psychic alert to nearby danger that only Zero knows about), 2) the name Spider-Man (he's told a handful of people while some people from other Marvel Universes that have a Spider-Man have figured it out), 3) the specifics of the amount of tragedy in his life. Very few people know about his Uncle Ben and Gwen Stacy. It's not a topic that he brings up very often for some reason.

Peter is generally a light-hearted guy with a goofy sense of humor and a drive to do the right thing. He is also obsessed with responsibility. This has not stopped him from being a driving force in certain prank wars.

Jim Halpert: Jim Halpert comes from the American version of the UK sitcom The Office. He's tall, generally good natured, and is perfectly happy to prank anyone that he feels deserves it. He's also good at basketball. He has issues with drive and motivation unless he's really passionate about something, so while he has the ability to be an excellent student, he'll probably stick to B's and C's. When it comes to girls he can be either very awkward or extremely charming. Depends on the girl and the situation. And that's about it. Yay for a normal character.

In Fandom, Jim is about ten years younger. And he comes from Massachusetts, not Pennsylvania, because there's no canon noting of where he's from and it really doesn't seem like he has any ties to Scranton (the location of the show) aside from certain friendships.

GOB Bluth: GOB is a professional magician illusionist from the show Arrested Development. He is a self-loathing, self-loving, mood swinging, constantly drinking, womanizing, loser, asshole of a human being. He is a terrible person who makes huge mistakes. He probably could have been a better person, but his parents had open contempt for him his entire life, his younger brother was always better at just about everything including getting the love of his parents, and the rest of his family is just as bad as him in their own way. His entire life is a giant cry for attention because of this. There are times, though, when he steps up and tries to be supportive to his family, that you almost think of him as a decent person before you remember that he just wants everyone to look at him. Oh, he also is a terrible venriloquist with an African American puppet that he really doesn't realize is somewhat horribly racist.

In Fandom, GOB started a failed business (Bluth Illusions), became the regular entertainer at Caritas, and later ended up buying the club when Lorne had to leave suddenly to star in a kids show. He's kind of amazed that he's taken to the job so well, but not as amazed as he is by the fact that he has a band full of zombies. He inherited them from Lorne and has no idea how to get rid of them. When he tends bar, he is likely to be friendly or even flirty, but that's just because he wants a bigger tip.

In terms of personal relationships, he is currently involved with Becky Vartan from the brothel and would probably cheat on her a lot if not for the fact that a ninja once stabbed him when he did something stupid in their relationship. Whenever he even thinks of infidelity, he looks around for ninjas. Not that Becky lets him refer to it as a relationship, which is exactly the reason he tries to make her refer to it as a relationship. That way he wins. It's a bizarre relationship, but it works for them. With people that he doesn't have sex with, GOB tends to have very basic reactions. With people he likes or doesn't know, GOB will usually try to be charming. He can get stuff from them, like money or attention. People he hates (which may be for reasons so bizarre or obscure that those people don't even know that he hates them) get a lot of glares and snippy comments. People he... actually, that's about it. Please note that he may have a completely random mood swing and change his feelings at any time.

GOB's third person narrative comments are different from the narrative comments used by most of the game. Specifically, I try to write them as if they are being read by Ron Howard, narrator of Arrested Development. If any narrative comment seems to know more than GOB should, don't worry, that doesn't mean that GOB knows anything. It just means that Ron is probably pointing out where GOB is being stupid, or otherwise filling in information that is necessary to understand what GOB is talking about.

And it's pronounced "Jobe" like Job from the Bible. No, that isn't readily apparent and characters can pronounce it "Gob" like in "gobble," although a lot of that joke is lost in a text-based medium.

Caritas is run by GOB with the help of his three PC bartenders plus Tino, an NPC from My So Called Life that was around when GOB bought the place. OOCly, nobody knows quite what Tino looks like and he never actually has any dialogue, so while you can mod his actions freely, please don't ruin the joke. There is a zombie band that somehow knows every song in existence and transfers their hunger for brains into a hunger for music (and brains that Tino feeds to them offscreen). There is also currently a dance floor, but that will be going away on Sunday. There is no cover charge and unlike the bar run by LUCIFER, A.K.A. THE FREAKING DEVIL, Caritas doesn't card. That says something terrible about GOB, but he's not likely to realize that.
