This pics are low quality because they're snagged from a craigslist ad, but you can get the idea of the gorgeousness that will soon be my apartment!
Everything has just been completely remodeled and all appliances are new! In fact, I'll be moving into this apartment just as soon as the remodeling is done on the particular unit that will be mine! There's also been new renovations on the exterior of the complex, which just looks amazing now as well. New beautiful systems paving (?) stones all around the pool and in the courtyard in the center of the complex, new exterior paint job, new landscaping, I can't tell you how excited I am about this place! And what you can't see in the pics of the interior is that the tile in the kitchen and bathroom is really really nice. The tile in fact goes up the walls of the bathroom as well and there are sliding glass doors in the shower and one entire wall of the bedroom is floor to ceiling storage with 3 sliding doors covering it. And as you can see, HARD WOOD BAMBOO FLOORS throughout the living room and bedroom! I AM SOOOO lucky I found this place... even the location is amazing and right off the highways that I need and a couple blocks from an awesome main street in Mountain View. Even the manager is awesome and I can tell we'll actually be friends.
I won't say how much it costs because I doubt most of the people who read this will understand how high the norm for rent in the bay area is (especially in mountain view), but I can only afford this place because it is a real bargain for what it is. Haha, after Jason saw the place on Saturday and knowing the price, he said to me "I can't believe you ever considered NOT going with this place!" (referring to a final craigslist search I did after seeing this place for the first time). I'm convinced the relatively low rent is only the case because many units are still being remodeled and other units won't be remodeled until the original renters move out, so construction on those units will be ongoing. Once construction is done, I expect prices will rise quite a bit and I may not be able to afford it, but it's a deal while it lasts! I may just decide to sign a 1 year rather then a 6 month lease because of that expected price increase though... I have until Saturday when I sign the lease to decide.
I'm so crazy excited to furnish and decorate this beautiful space and really make it mine. My mom's even coming out the weekend that I move in (the weekend of the 29th) to help me go furniture shopping and to pick out my graduation gift with me (mom and dad want to get me a bedroom set for a graduation gift). So that means mom also gets to meet Jason! yay! OH! and I am also in the process of filling out an application to adopt two kittens for soon after I move in. It may make more sense to wait until I'm more settled into this place, but I may be too eager to finally have pets again to wait long, haha.
Things are good!
PS: I still haven't heard the final word from Lunar, that other company I was interviewing with, but unless they give me an amazing offer and really make me feel honored, I will stay where I am (I'm enjoying it more and more all the time). And even if I do end up going with Lunar, I'll be willing to make the commute from this place in mountain view (30+ minutes). We'll see how that goes. No matter what though I know I'll be happy.
