Background: Here. She’ll be taken from the events of “[S] Kanaya: Return to the Core" and the rest of the 1/23 updates.
Personality: Kanaya is a meddler. A lousy meddling meddler! And by that, I mean she’s actually a very supportive girl. She’s the team mom of the trolls; while others spend their time arguing, insulting each other, and generally not getting along on various levels, Kanaya would rather try to help everyone get along. Vriska actually calls her “Fussyfangs” in reference to how much she worries over her friends.
But hey, she frets because she cares! Kanaya is one of the kindest trolls in the series, and is almost never seen truly angry. While she’s capable of holding a grudge (she doesn’t talk to Vriska much anymore after finding out her crush wasn’t reciprocated), she doesn’t take it out on people who don’t deserve it. For example: she has more than enough reason to be bitter towards Tavros for being the object of Vriska’s affections instead of her, but she’s been nothing but kind to him during the events of the series.
That being said, she is a troll. While she may not approve of infighting within the team, violence and bloodshed is nothing new to her. She didn’t bat an eyelash when she chainsawed Tavros’ legs off so Equius could replace them, or when she cut open her own lusus. She also had no qualms over attacking Eridan for essentially dooming their species.
Kanaya is a bit of an oddity among the trolls. She’s sort of the troll version of a goth; while most trolls can’t stand the blistering Alternian sun, she is not only able to withstand it, but enjoys spending time in the daylight. Most trolls prefer simple, utilitarian designs, while Kanaya loves making her own (usually bright-colored) clothing. She has a passion for designing in general; clothes, landscaping… if she’s creating something, chances are she’s enjoying herself.
There is one stereotypical “normal” goth interest Kanaya does like: vampires. Kanaya absolutely loves romance literature, especially those passionate novels about the seductive monsters known as “rainbow drinkers”. This might be a subconscious attraction since it was recently revealed that Kanaya herself is a rainbow drinker, but hey. Interests are interests.
Abilities: As a troll midway along the hemospectrum, Kanaya does not possess a psychic ability like several of her friends. She is special among them, though; her jade green blood, which is considered a mutation, allows her to withstand the intense heat of the Alternian sun.
Her weapon of choice is the MAKEUPKIND. While this may seem pretty innocent… it’s not. Her simple tube of lipstick can turn into a fully functioning chainsaw! She mostly uses said chainsaw to help with landscaping, but she can fight with it too.
