Free radicals are unstable molecules that include the hydrogen atom, nitric oxide (NO) and reactive oxygen species. These naturally occur in the body as a result of chemical reactions during normal cellular processes. They can also be formed in response to excess pollution, too much UV sunlight and exposure to cigarette smoke. In an attempt to ( Read more... )

Well, see, I was lonely and kinda sorta, you know, crazy at the time. She was really tough and I figured, hey, she can take the abuse of being the rebound, but I feel kinda guilty for dumping her out of the blue one day. Oh well.

I'm dating Xander now. Turns out discrimination on the basis of gender is a silly and outdated notion :)

Doctor, will you ever just smarten up and choose to be ginger instead of playing the genetic lotto? Or is it a girl thing to be able to do that?

I think it's a girl thing, yeah. Or maybe more of a Romana thing. I always thought she must be cheating. Couldn't figure it out. Me, I get stuck with whatever my DNA decides to churn out, but I don't hear you complaining, do I?

Maybe I should pick up some Clairol.

About those neutrons... whoever came up with that was either uneducated, or having a laugh ( ... )

Upon further reflection, and remembrance of the 'magic door' incident in GitF, I might be tempted to say that "reverse the polarity of the neutron flow" is just Doctor-speak for "I did stuff and made the thingie run backwards, you wouldn't understand how, so please stop asking, there's a good little ape."

I think that might even be more plausible than the shaky physics explanation in my previous comment! :-)

LOL, yeah, pretty much. I've always said he just makes up random crap because he can't be bothered to explain the complicated truth. Same goes for his age.

I know the neutron flow thing is a joke, but I did not realize neutrons could flow - on their own anyway. I was thinking of the way electrons work to make electricity. Now I'm all curious about how it works with neutrons!
This is what I get for taking AP Bio instead of Physics (which, oddly, I never needed for my degree). Maybe some nice professor will let me audit their class some time :)

Physics was one of majors as an undergraduate. :-)

You can actually get neutrons to go in an orderly herd in one direction, though I'm not sure why one would ever want to or if anyone has ever managed to in reality. Like I said, a flow of neutrons wouldn't really do anything or be able to affect most devices ( ... )
