[ the gear records a warmly lit room at the Goldenrod inn. it's a bit dim, just a rich buttery light coming from a lone lamp by the bed, but the viewer will have no trouble making out the picture. Tavros has just wheeled across the room in his chair and opened the window, making the curtains flutter in the chilly breeze. he doesn't seem to mind ( Read more... )

That's right, there are a lot of stars.. But Maria doesn't mind, since they're all so pretty, kyakyakya! [ she nods as she giggles to herself. ]

I think you're supposed to make wishes during Tanabata instead, though.. uu-.

Tanabata? [ repeats that really awkwardly, but at least he gets through the whole word instead of giving up trying to pronounce it halfway. ] What's that?

It's a festival where everyone gets to make a wish! Maria has made wishes during it before, and they always came true, kyakyakya!

... Uu-, but Maria thinks it's only celebrated in Japan, so maybe that's why you didn't hear of it yet..

Oh. That is probably it, yes, since, uhh, I don't even know what a Japan is, either.

I don't know. Isn't that brilliant? That's never happened before, no one's ever said 'Doctor, what's that star there' and had me answer 'I don't know'!

It's quite troublesome, this 'not knowing' business. I don't know how people cope, but then it occurred to me that not knowing meant there was that much more to learn everything about. Downright clever, don't you think?

Not knowing things, uhh, well, I guess that can be clever in its own way, especially given the thing that you said, but I think it would be more clever to know all of the things. Especially stars, since there are so many, and so that would be a really impressive feat.

Oh, I knew every star back home. Every star, every planet. Not knowing something is quite new for me.

Oh, is it because they're different in this place? Because I was thinking that the things in the sky here are not what I'm used to seeing at all.

Pupa Pan? Uh... don't you mean Peter Pan?

No, the name of the hero is definitely Pupa Pan, in the stories that I read. Why would he be called that other thing that you said?

Uh, because that's what it's always been called? I mean, there's like, a ton of movies and plays and books on it, dude.

Yes, I know, and I have seen them all, all of the versions! I guess it's possible that there is just, uhh, maybe a human alternative? Which is pretty neat, actually, because then humans don't have to miss out on the spectacular adventures.

Pupa... Pan? [There's something oddly familiar about this name.]

Yes! He is a heroic young troll that flies using fairy magic, and he lives in a fantastic place and goes on, uhh, all kinds of daring adventures.

[Jesus SWEARS that he heard that story before... But, well, nevermind. Maybe it'll come to him later.]

Heh... He seems like a really cool guy! I wouldn't mind getting a visit from him either.

He's definitely very cool, yes, the absolute coolest of cool, even. He visits people through their window at night and takes them on adventures with him, so, uhh, I've been leaving my window open every night so that he can get in!

[ Blinkblink. ] ...C-Could it be that you're not... human?

Oh right, yes, Christmas is what it's called.

[ pause... oh yes, he sometimes forgets the part where he looks human. :| ]

Uhh, well, I guess I sort of am now, but, I'm not usually human! At least, not where I was before.
