“I am the sincerest person in the band, I think.”
It was honestly true (although it was most sincere). Unlike Rev and Johnny Christ, I really take the time to talk to my fans, you know, open up and say more than a hi and goodbye. Syn and Shads were always occupied with their fucking beer bongs and girls. But me, what was I worried about? Nothing. There was not a flaw on my body when I was Zacky Vengeance. I had the life when I was on stage, had interviews, and showed off my girl, Gena.
My two worlds were light years apart.
When I went back to Huntington Beach, I was Zachary Baker, nothing more, nothing less. I had so many flaws you would have never guessed I was the same person as the one on stage. In Huntington, I could get my own mail without having anyone ask me for a picture or an autograph. I rarely talked to Gena, and I had small contact with my band. I had my real girl, Madison, my packages of cocaine, and my loveable dog, Ichabod.
Everyone thought I had the life, on and off the stage, but, in reality, I spent most of my earnings on coke. I don’t regret a single fucking thing, either.
“Just tell them to start without me,” I mumbled to Brian, hanging up the phone and slipping a Marlboro in the corner of my mouth. I turned to Madison and blew smoke out of my mouth.
Madison had kept me busy even during my high school days. It wasn’t like I was using her. She knew I wasn’t, but Gena was completely oblivious to the fact that I was still with her. Gena and I weren’t officially together, never have been. We were just there in those times of need, and in those times of need, I was on tour. She was classic eye candy, yeah, but so was Madison. Mad was always keeping herself busy with her work, though, so I thought, ‘Hey, why not bring Gena along on tour, you know, it’ll be fine!’
Everything was fine in both worlds then.
“What was that about?” Madison came and sat next to me, shoving her blonde and black hair in my face. Squinting through it all, I rubbed my nose, cigarette in hand and gave a careless shrug. “Whatever the fuck that was going on over there needs to start without me, right?” I wrapped my arms around her small waist and grinned. “I just got off tour, and they want me to go hang with them right after I got finished hanging out with them. How fucking stupid is that?”
She wiggled out of my arms and went to the bathroom to do another line.
“Yeah, I think it’s pretty fuckin’ stupid,” she snorted from the bathroom and then stuck her hand out of the door, wiggling her fingers for me to give her a hand at opening another bag.
We kept everything in the bathroom for one good reason. If we ever had a bust, we could just flush everything down the toilet or let it dissolve in the shower. It was as simple as that.
Laughing, I emptied another bag onto the marble countertop. “Mmm,” I turned her around and dropped the razorblade into the sink, sinking my hands into hers. “Let’s just forget about the coke for a minute and just…concentrate on each other for a moment.” I let my snakebites dangle with hers while I softly pecked her. “Don’t you just like the way I -”
There was a loud bang at the door. “Police! Open up!”
Both of our hearts were racing. I cupped her face in my hands again and kissed her again. “If you love me, you won’t ask questions. Just remember to flush everything or put it in the shower like I told you before, okay?” I turned on the shower and helped her get a head start on the cocaine. “Just do it like I told you, baby, just do it.”
“Zach,” Madison started to empty the packages of cocaine into the water, watching it run down the drain. “What the hell are we going to do?”
I flattened my plain white shirt and draped a bath robe over my clothes, throwing my shoes and jeans underneath the counter. “Don’t worry about that right now, please.” I ran out of the bathroom and opened the door, running a hand through my growing hair. “Can I help you?” I was scared shitless, but I couldn’t let them know it.
“We’ve got a search warrant, Mr. Baker. If you don’t mind,” the officers stepped inside and started to rip the place apart.
“Oh, no, I was just about to meet my band up for a session. You know, Avenged Sevenfold,” laughing nervously, I patted my stomach next to the bathroom. “My fiancée’s in the bathroom, so…”
Madison opened the door, letting steam come out and attack the officers and myself. “Oh,” she tucked the towel under her arm and smiled. Her two-toned hair was completely wet, showing that she really did take a shower. Holding her and my clothes under her arm, she fought her way through. “Excuse me, I am so sorry,” she gave a sincere blush as the officers looked over her tattooed body. “Do you want me to…?”
“Ma’am, you can put on some clothes before we go upstairs.”

“Sorry, sir, but it was our job.” The officers left, completely crestfallen.
“We understand.” Fully clothed, we stood at the door and watched them leave. Once the door was shut, Madison screamed and jumped on me, wrapping her legs around my waist. “We did it, Zach, we did it!” Kissing her, I hugged her and spun her around. “I know. We did it! You did it. Mmm,” I nuzzled my lips in her neck. “I love you so much.”
“No, I love you.” Madison landed on the carpet and dashed upstairs. “I love you even more upstairs.”

“Oh, sorry I couldn’t make it last night. My mom needed me for something,” I dropped my keys on the end table at Brian’s house and joined them in the den. “And it was my Nana’s birthday last night, too.” Laughing, I totally shrugged off whatever had happened to Zachary Baker and entered the conversation as Zacky.
“Zacky!” the guys hollered once I sat walked in and spotted a blonde in the corner.
“Hey, baby,” I took a seat next to Gena and kissed her.
My worlds were light years apart.
