 What happens when you are introduced at "the girlfriend" at a Superbowl party and suddenly dozens of eyes are all on you?

I can't pronounce it.

So I looked it up in the dictionary and it said you can either pronounce it, "close" or "klothz". But if I pronounce it CLOSE then what's the point of the th being in there? However, everytime I try to pronounce it with the th then the word comes out something like "cloths."
