i often wonder if maybe the reason i am iffy about the subject is because i am skeptical of people, and i find it hard to believe that it is a character, after all, and not just the person's views on either the other person or their sex.

I think a lot of people feel that way. It's definitely something that requires a lot of trust, but at the same time, the level to which you would take something like this would be personally-decided, you know? I would probably start howling with laughter and/or rage if someone called me a cunt or a bitch in bed.
