So! Although I haven't seen V for 12 days, I've been calling every day so I can talk to her. She's now sitting up, and very keen on solid food; milk really doesn't impress her at all. We started her on solid food at 5.5 months; the breastfeeding mafia (as I've heard it called) would have it that babies have to breastfeed exclusively until 6 months ( Read more... )

...man you are lucky on the milk thing...MM-M loved milk as soon as she was strong enough she would open the fridge and help herself...she could get through over a litre a day ( ... )

Damn right about the breastfeeding mafia - totalitarian tendencies. H. decided at 6 months that she'd had enough of breast-milk and that was that. And the same thing later with the shift to solids. We've taken a child-led approach to feeding, and so far it seems to be working OK ( ... )

K and A went to educare from 3 months, at which age I suffered far more than they did. I am 100% convinced that my daughters have had a better first-few-years going to educare than they could ever have had at home.

My experiences at the educare, mostly from seeing this with others as by definition you cannot see it with your own, is that the best thing to do if your child is wailing at you leaving is to leave even faster. Then they calm down and have a great time, whereas if the parent stays the child keeps on wailing. (This assumes some familiarity with the school already.)

But you be careful now or the breeding mafia will be on to you! I visited my dr this week for contraception, explaining that I was practically sleeping with a child (23 is a children, right!)...and she gave me a whole you really ought to stop fooling around and get yourself into a breeding relationship, waahhhhh! I'm like if it happens it happens if it doesn't it doesn't, easy cum easy go...I mean I have one already it’s not like my uterus is going to shrivel and die without me experiencing the joy of motherhood!
