Oh, look, an update!

I'm having surgery on my right elbow in 10 days. I'm right-handed so I've been practicing doing things with my left hand. The challenges will be getting dressed (stretchy pants, loose t-shirts will be dress code for a while), getting into bed, making the bed, changing the sheets (nearly impossible), using a roll brush with the hair dryer (also ( Read more... )

Oh babe I feel for you! It sounds like you've got the planning part down, though, and I admire the way you're anticipating things, so that's good. I hope the surgery goes well and if I/we don't see a post from you in a while I'll know why.

((((hugs))))

Thanks! I've been practicing using the mouse with my left-hand. It's actually easier than I thought. Typing, however, is very slow.

Ouch, ouch, ouch. I hope it all goes smoothly, and if you need any help, call!

Or if you need any TV suggestions. :P

Thank you! I have a list of DVD's I've wanted to watch in forever but I expect I'll plow through those in no time. I just may take you up on some suggestions.

I have actually managed to injure myself trying to lift weights. I have this in both arms. The right is worse than the left. Thankfully mine is getting better. But I read up and realized if I didn't 'act right' surgery would be my option. I hope it all goes well and that you are back to your better than normal self soon.

Thanks! I have to admit that I'm kind of looking forward to having pain that will eventually go away compared to this constantly nagging, aching pain and weakness.

Definitely "act right" because it's bad enough when you have it and it goes away (I had it many, many years ago), but it's miserable when it doesn't go away. Are you wearing the band(s)? I have one from Mueller with a gel pad that really helps relieve some of the pain. I also have some exercises I got from PT that might help. If your interested, I think I can scan the sheet and send it to you. Unfortunately, none of them helped me...

I have been using the KT Tape which is amazing stuff. I also have a brace that I wear at the gym. I am avoiding things like pullups and pushups and certain weight lifting moves like the plague.

I would love a copy of the exercises, if it's no trouble. :)

Keep me posted on your progress.

No trouble at all. Just PM me with an email addy and I'll send it to you.

They put some KT tape on my arm a couple of times after PT. It was hard to say if it helped because I'd had a cortisone shot so there wasn't any pain. Glad it's working for you though. I'm going to try magnets during the recovery. A couple of people at work, including one guy who's had this surgery, swear by them. I figure it can't hurt.
