There is finally a new post in lj_biz. A few high points:

We accept all reports of potential child pornography that are reported to us, regardless of the source, but will only take action when that material violates our policies. That means we will accept reports even from people or groups that are annoying or have an axe to grind, but if content is ( Read more... )

I hadn't heard about the issues about supporting adult content (the last I heard was that they'd probably be making it 18+ to take care of that, same as JF?). I'll have to take that into advisement. There is another fandom-friendly journaling venture going on over at fandom_flies, but their really just now taking baby steps toward the final product, so I think it's at least a few months away.

You know, I don't know if I can really give them any credit for - two weeks later - going, "OH. You mean we made a HUGE EFFING MISTAKE? Let's fix that now." If they wanted any credit for unsuspending her, they needed to have done it the following business day (as well as made statements, etc. etc.).

As someone in the lj_biz post pointed out, if we were to judge LJ by their own "two strikes" rule, they'd already be out, wouldn't they? I'm not inclined to be terribly forgiving.

Yes, but I thought the issue was that fictional characters = no child porn? Simply child obscenity, which is a different issue altogether, at least in the U.S. But who knows how that differs in Canada. (It figures that I'd get the U.S. laws all straightened out just in time to get confused by a whole new government ...)

I doubt I'll be permanently upping stakes, but I really don't think that I'll be paying for a paid account anymore, regardless of how the dust settles. I think that LJ has made it abundantly clear that they don't give a rat's ass about their userbase, and I'm very leery about handing my money over to a company that is so obviously fickle (and poorly managed). Of course, mine doesn't expire until next April, so I've got a while to make that decision ...
