We had her declawed. I'm normally against declawing cats, because I know that it's a major source of self-defense/balance/climbing, but she has a problem with her nervous system that means that she can't control her claws. She was constantly getting her claws caught in things and was unable to detangle herself, and would frequently scratch the hell out of us when she was just trying to play. Everyone (including her) is much happier now, and she went from being scared and stand-offish to incredibly affectionate, so I feel that we did the right thing in this case. :)
Ooh okay, I just was wondering cause I feel the same way about declawing and I absolutely hate when people do it for selfish reasons, which is obviously not the case with your kitty! I'm so glad to hear that she's doing so well and is so lovely and friendly now!! (and I didn't meant the wuetion to sound rude/judgmental I just don't understand why people do it simply because they don't like the idea of kitties clawing something, rather than a situation where it's genuinely for the kitty's well being)
Yeah, I don't understand people doing it without a reason, either! Annabelle still has all her claws, and we only removed Forte's front claws (since they were the only ones causing problems), so she still has some defense/climbing ability with her back paws. :)

The kitties are both so adorable! Though I have to ask, was the kitty declawed when you got her or did you have it done?
