oh no! im so sorry. if it helps at all, my precious stray cat Cardboard (he would always lurk in my cardboard recycling pile at my apartment on northview in the burg) died with a very sudden weight loss and shedding of hairs. he was around ten years old too. and it happenned in a few weeks and i didnt realize how bad it was until one day he came down the stairs and stumbled. i didnt notice, dont know how i didnt notice, he was just hiding out a lot and i thought it was b/c of the move back home that i had just made. i took him to the vet and they stabilized him enough to get him perky, but when they took me into that room with a couch i knew it was too late. so i had to put him down. they kindof gave me a look like "how could you not notice" and i really felt terrible, but there was really no way to know! and with so many things going on in your life, im sure your cat didnt want to make you worry. if your cat is as in tune to you as you feel she is, then she must have known that you had so many things going on. you are a good pet

I can relate very well to what you are going through. Last year the same thing happened to me, Kiwi grew too thin and I somehow failed to notice. When I did take her to the vet and attempt to stuff her full of fluids and fatten her up, etc. it was too late. Now it is happening again. Her brother, Bongo, is too thin. I didn't really notice but (thankfully) my friend did. He is doing better than Kiwi had, I guess he isn't deteriorated as far. Bad kidneys as well. Daily IV fluids, as much nutri-cal as we can stuff in his mouth, kidney medicine

Adam, I can't believe Genevieve is gone. Remember helping to care and comfort her when she was a kitten. Sophie's (my cat's) mother. I didn't realize it has 10 years since she was born. She was my good, sweet cat. I knew I felt funny on Thursday, but I didn't know why. Genevieve brought alot of happiness and joy. I will miss her very much!!
That's heartbreaking, brother. Sorry. Holly is such a sweat pooch but I can totally understand. thankfully there's that nice shelter. and i remember the early days of Genevieve and Roman living in my closet on ave f (ave f, right?) using my motorcycle helmet as their litter box - ah, good times. No, she was sweet - and, surprising to me, super friendly when I came for visits in stl. j's and my 3 cats are outdoor cats. some "cat lovers" think that's wrong because outdoor cats have shorter life spans because they get hit by cars. maybe so, but they want to go outside, they are happier outside, and (other than waking me up at 4:30 in morning) I'd rather them do what they want and live shorter lives than have safe but miserable kitties. Genevieve had a good run - gave love and recieved love. hugs.
