Clearly, I need to pay more attention to the local opera news. Deborah Voigt bowed out of Ariadne auf Naxos in July, but I didn't realize it until yesterday when I read the Trib's review. Is that within COT's writ? I thought they didn't touch anything 19th century up till WWII.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy Wagner more. I liked her, but then I'm not that big a Voight fan. What did you think of the set?

Oh, and I'd like to hear more about dinner. I've been considering trying out that place, but something suggest to me it will likely be mediocre for the price.

I can't remember what restrictions COT places on itself besides avoiding anything the Lyric has recently done. It would be a shame for them to avoid early 20th century opera, as a lot of daring stuff was being written then which I think they would do well ( ... )

Well, shoot. I was looking forward to Voight myself: she's one of a comparatively few sopranos queenmomcat likes.

Maybe she'll take her Brunnhilde on the road. I doubt we've seen the last of her at the Lyric. She just won't be singing Ariadne any time soon.
