You have flourishes of lovely language in this, just grand. My only concrit is that 'tada' should be Ta-daa, because it just reads 'tada'- like the name you'd give to the model of Kate's distressed car or something.

As for Tommy, yeah, this is definitely supposed to be a look at how all three of them deal with personal upheavals, so of course Tommy's going to act like it doesn't matter (because WHOA, SCARY) until he finally realizes that he has to show that it does. a;sldkfj they are all so bad at feelings

This is gorgeous. I love how understated the emotions are - there are things happening on several different levels, and so much is unspoken, and you could read it again and again and never quite get all of it together but you can feel it anyway, you know?
