A friend of mine (another local) IM'd me to tell me there was a tsunami warning. I checked, and it had just been downgraded to a bulletin.
Nonetheless, I was not concerned. I expect we'd stay high and dry here, in any case. I'm more concerned about quakes on the Seattle Fault, because the fault line's a linear mile north of here, across the southern part of Bainbridge Island.

and not me, my dear.
I understand the urge to call, I really do. But I was trained so early by my California-native parents to NOT call. If there's an emergency, deal with it. If you're injured in an emergency, then why are you calling anything but 911? And if you're not injured, don't tie up the phone lines!
(That said, I do have to double check that my sister will be the person who will field phone calls/call concerned folks if Something Bad happens here, as part of that whole emergency plan thing.)

folks from other places. I have lived here for nearly four years and when the news was talking about a tsunami hitting California, *I* used the Bay as my gage. . until I remembered how long it took to get across the peninsula to Half Moon Bay.
Maybe us East Coasters just see California as one giant beach. :)
