A meme going around.. Post songs of protest or songs that mean "no more war" to you. This one probably really datestamps me, but it's always been a fav ( Read more... )

You want dated? Try this:

And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for?d
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn
Next stop is Vietnam
And it's five, six, seven, open up those Pearly Gates
And it ain't too late to wonder why
Whoopee! We're all gonna die.
- Country Joe McDonald

or:
Tin soldiers and Nixon's coming
We're finally on our own
This summer I heard the drumming
Four dead in O-hi-o
Four dead in O-hi-o

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are cutting us down
Shoulda been gone long ago
What if you knew her and
Found her dead on the ground
How can you run when we know?
-Neil Young, with CSNY

Give me an F! Give Me a U! Give me a C! Give me a K! What does it Spell? What does it spell? What does it spell!

C'mon all you big strong men
Uncle Sam needs help again
Got himself in a terrible jam
Way down south in Viet Nam
So put down your books and pick up your gun
We're going to have a whole lot of fun

and its one, two three....

From memory, of course, and thanks for the earworm! I love me some Country Joe and the Fish.

I was actually datestamping myself as a particular brand of mid-70's/early 80's lesbian.... not many of us left who can actually listen to Holly whine all the way through an album and actually enjoy it somewhat!

Much as I liked it at the time, I *can't* sit through "where have all the flowers gone" without getting all itchy. Maybe someone will do a cover that's not so... cloying.

I am sorry to ask you in your journal about this! I was reading vegancooking, and you meantioned "If you go over to the what a crock community, you'll find in their receipe archives a delicious receipe for a vegan curry involving squash, apples, raisins, and other lovelies. It's delicious, and with some rice you'd be all set."

I looked through their memories and I can't find it, could you link me? Sorry again, but thank you for any help!

It is in the What A Crock community, memories, under "potato". It's the only entry in that category. Not hard to find at all.

Because sure, I don't mind at all doing the 3 minutes of searching for you in the midst of grieving both my parents, which you obviously know about as you chose to comment 4 entries back.

Insensitive, much?
