This made my day! ^_^ You got a really random list of songs. I'll have to try this now, although I'm very much tempted to cheat and replace in the songs I don't like or rather don't find fitting with songs I do like. I've always wanted to do little song based drabbles. This seems fun.
"Black and White" and "Time Will Tell" were my two favorites; very sweet and romantic. "Confessions Part III" was very funny. When Sephiroth said "And yes that dress DOES make you look fat!" I was like uh-oh 0.0 "The Beast Lets Belle Go" was sad, and made me think of all the words left unspoken.
I see most of these are also sort of small character studies. They are all very simple and nice. I see many opportunities for expansions. *hint hint* Good job, write more! (smut is optional but highly preferred, LOL)
Yaay, I'm glad you liked them! It was a lot of fun, although like you, I was SO tempted to skip over songs I didn't think fit... I remember getting to the Weird Al song and just cringing. XD Also, it was so hard to stick to the whole, "stop writing when the song's over," thing... the Weird Al song, again, was a tough one. I sort of had to wrap it up in a hurry, otherwise I probably would have had the reason for the argument be something else (I thought something along the lines of, "when a relationship is THIS perfect, you have to look for things to argue about") and had the following exchange
( ... )
OMG!!! I'll have to write more later because I've got rehearsal for a show but I love #6! I've been trying to write a rainy day scene with and without dancing for forever now! I have two started, but they haven't gone anywhere yet. I adore your scene though! It was so moving and wonderful! Insert more praise with lots of exclamation marks!!!! LOL. I like this set better than the first. Hooray smut!
OMG yay! I'm so glad you liked it! I didn't think this set turned out as well as the first, but it seems I succeeded on some level. ^^
And psst, if you want to do this yourself, I figured out the perfect way to cheat just now... set your music player to something like your "most often played" or "highest rating." On a whim, I checked what the former was on iTunes and basically said, "... wow, I could probably write good OTP fic to every single one of these. Except Snakes on a Plane, and even that I could probably wangle. >.>"
Off topic: speaking of music, who is that artist you keep referring to in your LJ? I think she's the one in your default icon. I'm not sure what type of music she plays, and as I'm finding myself rather disenchanted with a lot of music nowadays - Darren Hayes' latest album was a disappointment, The Tea Party's broken up, and Michael Jackson's gone rather downhill - so I'm interested in finding someone new to listen to, as long as it's my type of music, ^^
Her name is Idina Menzel. She's both a Broadway and a rock-pop singer. She played the original Maureen in RENT and the original Elphaba in Wicked--the latter which really made her famous. She has the most amazing voice and a wonderful talent for song-writing. I feel like several of her songs are very fitting to our OTP. (In fact that just totally inspired me to write a few drabbles using the songs from her new album.) She's just recently gone mainstream and her new album was just released; it's called I Stand. This album is more pop than her other two, but it's NOT bubble-gum pop. It's hard to describe; I'd like to say it's very soulful and inspiring. You should definitely give her a try, if only how her songs fit with the drabbles I've written.
I just looked her up on ITunes to see if there were any "free samples" to listen to (sadly no) and see that I have heard ONE of her songs... sort of. She did the end song for Beowulf, which I sort of vaguely remember if I squint hard. XD I remember thinking that it seemed pretty nice, though! =D I'll definitely give her a listen then.
And OMG, can't wait to read your drabbles! I went straight to my flist and started hitting refresh. ;D
My soul is slowly dying from this 8 page paper due tomorrow (I have 5 done, so I am justified in wasting time writing this post) the 8 page one I have due next week and the 4+ page one I have due at the end of the month and all the other written assignments that are due in the next few months of my life that come with being an English major taking 500+ level English classes and two History classes. You should write me something lovely. I promise I'll write you back. You are superb in every way. :)
This was sweet--no pun intended, just no other words to better describe it. I like them going to the festival together; the setting gives the story a playful tone. Sephiroth is too cute when he hands her the ice cream cone; he gets so awkward when he's trying manly and not sentimental.
OMG!!! SO MUCH LOVE!!! MY PAPER IS DONE AND WHEN I CAME BACK TO READ THE FIRST AGAIN THERE WAS A BONUS!!! Okay I need to stop shouting now, compose myself for lovely sephiroth/saturn fanfic dreams and plotbunnies, and go to bed because my brain is dead. Paper is done and shitty and boring and made up of all facts and summary--everything required in a history paper. This has been a tremendous boost of happiness to my heavily burdened soul. Will write and finish reading your comments in detail tomorrow, or rather later today.
OMG YAY! I'm so glad you liked! =D The paper sounds horrible - at least as an English Lit major I got to enjoy what I was writing about ("Antonio ttly had hotz for Bassanio. Trufax."). I'm glad that my silly little fic attempts managed to give you a boost. ^_^
It should have been by all means easier to write, but it killed me inside. I kept reading the paper thinking, there's too much summary (a bad habit I get into sometimes when writing papers on books), but then again that was the point of it. The class is Hollywood and History, and you're supposed to summarize the events in the movie and compare them to history. I personally prefer my English lit classes, although now I'm into Medieval theory and my brain is becoming warped even more so than it was after regular Critical Theory. I like being able to make my own interpretation of a text and writing a paper on it.
I never took History at uni, but I heard the stories about it, about papers that served as basic "summaries" of events but had about fifty gazillion footnotes for everything. >.> Hollywood and History sounds like it would be a fascinating course, though. What movie/historical event are you doing?
And ah, Medeival theory... I remember that being a lot easier to wrap my brain around than Critical Theory. But then, that is because I have a deep and burning hatred for anyone with the names Lacan or Derrida. Freud and I have a strained relationship too. >.> I became infamous in the English department for being the student who was allergic to critical theory and liked to say, "can't we all just come up with our own individual interpretations?" My thesis supervisor thought it was good, but warned that I probably wouldn't enjoy grad school much in the current academic environment.
