Soooo due to the poor planning of our lovely home( The heating unit is upstairs, which means its really hot upstairs and even hotter in the attic,but freezing downstairs) we need the downstairs fire to make it bearable on the chilly nights. It's not the best idea for us because we like fire a little too much. I mean we love to burn junk mail,

Lots of fun things can be thrown into a fire. Try table salt! NaCl should glow BRIGHT white. If you can get your hands on some aluminium shavings, they should be all sparkly. Barium sulfate is also good for a nice green (if you can find a source). I think you can find it in the camping section at Wal-Mart!

Seriously. Between that and playing Command and Conquer: Red Alert multiplayer via modem, that was my middle school experience. There was a brief period where I wanted to get into chemical engineering so I could build fireworks....

Who knows? There's probably a parallel universe where I did get into pyrotechnics. I am probably missing a hand as well.

Sometimes it's still fun to see what happens when things burn--or how hot they have to get in order to do so. Teaching Chibi early?
