i don't know that water mocassins (sp) ever get out of the water. if you smelled cucumbers that's what it was.

i've always heard/read that the cucumber smell is associated with copperheads.

a really cold one? It was 56 degrees here over the weekend and we went kayaking and I saw a turtle poke it's head above the water or it was a snake.
