tech help?

my computer has stopped recognizing my external hard drive. i've turned it off and on again, un plugged it and re-plugged it in, tried i different usb port, and restarted my computer. it is on as it is glowing, but its not showing up in my computer, or making the little recognition sounds. anyone have any advice?

Try it in another computer. If it isn't recognized, it is, unfortunately, probably dead. If you have any computer handy friends nearby, they can check the logs, or even better, take it out of the enclosure and hook it up directly to a desktop to see if it is detected.

What he said. I can take a look on Sunday, if you haven't had anybody else poke it before then (and assuming we're doing something this Sunday).
