[052] Another Loss

Oct 19, 2011 08:01

[Usagi is in her room, arms wrapped tightly around herself as she sits on the bed with her knees drawn up to her chest. It's as if she wants to quite literally try to hold herself together, as if she might break into pieces if she lets go ( Read more... )

Thank you.

[What else is there to say? Michiru had been a part of her life since so long ago; and even for quite awhile here in Adstringendum. They laughed together, comforted each other when Haruka left, talked together and spent time together. They did little things for each other, and big things like the painting she asked Michiru for - forever partly finished, now.

Michiru would hate that, to have left behind unfinished work.]

It's alright, isn't it, since she's home?

Of course. But loss is never pleasant.

[She constantly consciously reminds herself: Rei is here, Minako is here, Setsuna is here, Yuuichirou is here...

It doesn't help as much as it used to. She's had a year of how temporary Adstringendum seems to be, and how fleeting.]

Mm. But I still hope to see them again some day. Here or at home.

[He's there within some time, not even bothering with a greeting. Instead, he sits beside her, as she did when to him before.]

[Not really sure what to say, he hopes that just being there will make her feel better.]

[It does. When Fran arrives, Usagi is lightly running her fingers across a newly-carved name. At first, it might seem to be a mistake: She's written it twice. But a closer look shows one of them is definitely older and more worn than the other.]

Fran. [She turns around.] Thanks.

[She knows that Usagi doesn't want her condolences. Losing a friend is one thing. Losing family - losing a senshi is something completely different.

That's why Minako searches out her best friend, finding her at the playground.] Usagi-chan?

[She makes herself look up. She even makes herself smile. Minako must be feeling badly, too; she should be cheerful for her.]

Minako-chan. Were you taking a walk, too?

[She motions to the other swing; they're rusted, but sturdy enough to sit on.]

For both of us, huh? [She manages a smile that isn't seen over the voice function.]

Thanks. I think we should. In a little while.

I'd be totally okay with some mutual leaniness.

Leaniness? [Buffy, if she picks up your vocab, it's all your fault.]

[This is happening far too often.]

[Sokka has no trouble finding Usagi at the old playground and when he does, he brings with him a fall leaf tucked into some homemade paper. He's a bit beat up about the face, but it's nothing to fret over (you hear that, Usagi, nothing to fret over in your time of need.)]

Usagi... can I come sit with you?

Mm. [She nods towards the other swing by habit, and then she notices Sokka's face and almost gets up out of her seat.]

Sokka! What happened?

It's nothing, don't worry about it. [Said with all the emphasis. He takes a seat on the other swing and turns it sideways, crossing the chains and looking at his friend.] It's hard to see you hurting. I wish I could take it all away.

It's not nothing! Sokka, did you get in a fight? [A fight, getting hurt by someone here and now, was more worrisome than a friend going back to safer places.]
