Re-watching West Side Story.
And I think to myself, these actors and actresses are fricking old.
One character is scripted to be 14.
Wouldn't this story be that much more interesting with people who look 16?

When you're a jet you're a jet. And you sing. And you snap your fingers and circle your enemies and stare into their eyes like you want to make out with them. Oh, so intimidating.

Sigh. Never did care for West Side Story. Worse than Grease, that is.

Well that's a point I didn't address originally - that the acting and words are quite dated. The dancing is way too metaphorical for today's world, and that would definitely be something addressed in the remake. But imagine what they did for Chicago, to West Side Story and with a cast who actually looks 14 and 16...
