Shirked by SSHRC again. It's not a surprise, really, as the odds are so stacked, but somehow it always feels like a slap in the face anyway. This time I cleared the department, but not the school. Apparently I'm getting worse over time ( Read more... )

SO sorry you are going through this rough time -- I wish I could be encouraging about job prospects, but I'm afraid things aren't looking very good in academia at the moment, even with the wave of retirements of the 60s generation...

Wow, that really sucks. Rejection never gets easier to take, no matter what anyone else says.

I echo your sentiments. I sometimes wonder if I should just fill out an application to work as a Barista. :-P

There seems to be a number of people feeling like the work that they have is not the one that they want/are happy with.

Ironic that it's the absolute worst time to be thinking of new career choices, but that seems to be the common thread at the moment . . .
