It usually happens at the close of the First Act of a Super Hero's origin story. In the beginning of the Second Act, and sometimes even the next scene, the hero will have donned his signature costume.

askhjfalhfa YES. At the end of the episode she makes her speech about protecting the town! And the spell with the tomb and Grams dying is her tragic backstory!

The most important feature is these heroes adhere to a strict code of honor and sense of authority; capes can be notoriously inflexible and perceive things in black and white, and even be painfully straightforward and selfless. They often downplay their own heroism and will act heroically even when no one will know.

...considering how often Bonnie is accused of acting holier-than-thou. But she does it out of caring about people and GREAT RESPONSIBILITY. (Although, she's totally willing to kill murderous vampires. But her universe is full of people that kill people, so. It doesn't really count.)

She's willing to kill those who are murderers who haven't actually redeemed themselves and still kill innocents. Very different.

But they haven't really established that though, I mean she talks a good game. But Elena was able to talk her down from killing Damon by reminding her of who she was, i.e. not a person that kills people (or asshole vampires in this case). I find it interesting that by preventing Bonnie from killing Klaus, the writers have kept her from directly taking a life in two seasons, something not even Elena can claim. Has she even killed a vampire yet?
