OH. EM. GEE!
Well, when we finally figured out where the heck we were going (the hordes of kids with black shirts and Nightmare Before Xmas stuff on their vehicles were great indicators), we didn't have to stand in line very long. It was interesting seeing the different kinds of people there. There was this adorable little boy there, and by little I mean pre- to undergoing puberty (plus he had a tiny little build), with his MCR shirt on and girl pants and skate shoes. I saw his mum and it was pretty obvious he'd drug her there! There were actually quite a few younger kids there, but some of them were there for their parents which I thought was cool. (Guess that explains why there's a LiveJournal community for people who are "too old to be MCR obsessed.") I also liked seeing the people who had merch from the Revenge tour, you know they've got a history with this band... but any TRUE lover has a history with this band...
Anyways, we made it in and YAY! the merchandise was right there. I was kind of sad that they didn't have the Dead! hoodie I wanted (but you know, SOMEBODY has a birthday coming up... XD), but I got a pretty awesome one that looks like the Black Parade uniforms:

And, curse those skinny emo kids, they took all the small sizes of the tour shirts. Well if you know anything about me, I HAVE to have a tour shirt from whatever concert I go to. If it doesn't have the tour dates on it, it's like any other band shirt. So, I got a size large, which I (still, thankfully) can swim around in, but it's AWESOME.
front (and my foot!):

I also got an arm band like the guys used to wear on the Revenge tour, only the new ones were of course updated for the Black Parade tour.

I wished I'd gotten my paycheck because there was also a really neat MCR flag and a freaking SCARF. And it was STRIPED. If I love anything it's STRIPED SCARVES. Throw MCR into the mix, and I'm gone. Unfortunately I ran outta cash. But here's hoping there's a surplus of merch after the tour... :)
This was while Rise Against was playing. We found our seats (or so we thought) and were there for two Rise Against songs. It was pretty obvious why MCR chose them as tour mates, they had a similar sound and, as Gerard later commented, they were also a band with a message.
Then we found our actual seats (which were not that far away from the ones we had originally yoinked, but far enough away to make me a little unhappy... ten more feet separating me from my lovelies!!) and everybody was squealing at every movement the roadies made as they set up for MCR and when the lights started going off. Which is totally understandable, because I was having a REALLY DIFFICULT TIME not bursting out in squees everywhere. I saved that for the concert, but those were spent up during the first few songs. But I managed to squee/scream/sing for the whole thing anyways. :)
Soooo then, the lights all went out and we heard the beeping of a heart monitor, signaling the beginning of "the End." I about lost it completely when Gerard came out on a stretcher, portraying (of course) the Patient.

Now come one come all to this tragic affair...
Then when the guitars kicked in, both curtain and costume were torn away...

revealing none other than... THE BLACK PARADE!!!!!!!!!!!
Much screaming ensued.
The backdrop was really neat, it had this sort of not quite cartoony, 3D-ish city behind them (you can kind of see it in the above picture), which moved when they began "Welcome to the Black Parade" to reveal a backdrop of a city similar to that in the video for the song. They played the whole Black Parade album and (to my delight!!) even "Blood"!!! Okay, so MCR themselves didn't actually play it. They played the recording of it while the Black Parade left to become MCR again, but still, it was all kinds of awesome. And sort of funny, because a lot of people didn't know the words, but for those of us that did, it was like a big inside joke.
Just before the curtains closed again, Gerard announced that the Black Parade was dead! The only reason ANY of us were happy about this was because we knew that My Chemical Romance was to take their place, and sure enough, when the curtain was pulled back, there they were, sans the marching band costumes and playing in front of their old Revenge backdrop (you know, the one with all the white pistols and the one red pistol in the centere). They played most of the favourites from the Revenge album, although I definitely was missing "The Jetstet Life is Gonna Kill You," but was glad they didn't play anything from their very first album because I've hardly listened to it. They ended with "Helena," and all of a sudden, their wishes of "so long and good night" rang all too true. Suddenly everything was over, Ray had put his guitar away, Frankie had calmed down, Bob's platform stopped revolving (HE HAD TWO DRUM KITS!), Mikey stood still, and Gerard closed his mouth... and I was left sweaty as heck, and stunned... I was officially an outpatient...
This was a concert like I'd always wanted to go to: a band that I love more than life, screaming every single lyric at the top of my lungs... a night to remember, a memory that I'll always look back upon as one of the best, if not the best, times of my life.
Here's the pictures I took:
