Six years today RIP April Marie Ledford

*sigh* It's wierd to think that 6 years ago today I lost my best friend. It's so crazy how at 17 you just never expect it to happen. It's true that teenagers just think they are invincible. Death just seems so far off. Just something that happens when you're old. The worst thing is at the age of 23 I can go into a few choice cemetaries and see

Oh man, today's the anniversary? It really is insane how many people from our peer group died in middle and high school. I keep telling people here in New Orleans that I come from a place that sucks your soul away if you don't leave, making you take your own life or go insane, or else you get into some horrible car accident. You remember Leland when we were freshman, right? Or wait...did you transfer into NHS? I can't remember. Anyway, Leland got run over by a truck while he was on his bicycle. He had so many friends that school was closed for his funeral. And not to be nit-picky, but Shane was the Valedictorian...the Salutatorian (Lisa Jenks) came with me down here to Tulane ;-)

I transfered in sophmore year.I actually knew Leland another way though. He was in rehab with me.. lol! I kept thinking Shane was the valedictorian but then I second guessed myself. This place does suck you dry... I can't even count the number of times I tried to kill myself. I actually missed the beginning of sophmore year because I almost did really die and someone found me and I ended up in Charter because of it. Bastards. Leland is the other grave in the same cemetary with Marie. I'm not sure where Shane is buried. I didn't hear he was even dead until afterwards cause Elizabeth Cox (Hutto) is my sister in law now and she went to the funeral.
