Ahhh, how good it is to have Jon Snow is back from his short break, writing me his "Snowmails" -

"Anti-terror laws used on protestors: There is a high profile Arms Fair on here in London marvellously timed and located to take full advantage of the "victory in Iraq." But those seeking to protest against this export-winning job-securing exhibition ( Read more... )

I went to UCL and read Geography and its great! I spent my year in halls in Camden living in the same block as my uncles had lived in 20 years before. Ooooh Camden. Happy times!

You'll love it!

Go and find the odd woman that hangs about in the union bar near Euston (can't for the life of me remember its name!) and impress your new friends by knowing the story before they do. Its a bit of a sad tale. She used to attend UCL herself back in the year dot and broke up with her boyfriend, who then topped himself and ever since she's hung around in the bar. If she's there you'll spot her. I heard about it from one of my uncles whose mate started working in there while they were at uni together and I don't think has ever left.

Oooh what a coincidence-sorta-thing. I'd hoped for Max Rayne in the Camden halls, but anyways yeh I am really looking forward to UCL.

That's really quite sad, but a good folk story. Is the bar in the Union on Gordon Street? Theres a UCL building near Euston called Wolfson House but I dunno if thats it?

Gordon Street, that's the one.

The only name that had really stuck in my head was the Windyer, but I rarely went there after spending faaaarrrrr toooooo much time queuing to get my NUS and London Transport cards there. The best bar (who's name I don't think I ever learnt because we always called it the medics bar) had (what seemed like) hundreds of pool tables. If you can find it raise a pint of the black stuff in there for me!!!
