Cut Down: Unfortunately, his super-drawing skillz aren't particularly supernatural, so...
Personality: One of the more intelligent members of his class, Saiko makes little effort to stand out. Apathetic and distant, he still has a few friends, but doesn't consider any of them particularly close, partly thanks to the fact that he believes most of the members of his class are stupid. He avoids getting tied down to things that might get him in trouble or even draw him out of the status quo.
Even still, he holds two secret passions, the affection he feels for his classmate, Azuki, and his secret love for drawing that, before meeting Shujin, he had let fade in the face of not wanting to detract from the expected path that his parents had for him. However, Shujin's influence draws him away from his parent's wishes and reunites him with the dreams he had as a child, encouraging to follow his uncle's path and become a manga artist. Nevertheless, his gratefulness to Shujin for this doesn't mean he allows the other any more kindness than he'd give anyone else. He dubs him 'Shujin' in response to Shujin's insistence on calling him by his nickname and takes care to remind him that he hardly feels obligated to drawing Shujin's manga unless the other gives him a story he wants to work with.
Despite his mature appearance that his distance usually gives, Saiko is still in many ways a young boy, though. Girls are still a complete mystery and he's shy about interacting with even the girl that's promised to marry him, his cool facade slipping between her influence and Shujin's wild personality. However, beyond Azuki, he doesn't seem interested in girls or things he sees as girlish in general. He decries manga geared to girls and otaku as being weak and it's obvious that he's still influenced by the manlier manga heroes from his childhood, like the lead character of Ashita no Joe.
