Yes. That was what she kept telling herself. The worst part was over! Paige used the thought as a mantra the entire way from her room to the kitchen area, which she found basically by trailing along after a group of giggling girls who seemed quite oblivious to everything but themselves. She had left her room! Managed to consciously abandon a safe, almost solitary haven for a building full of strangers who were....well. STRANGE. Her first classroom had been located the previous evening, pointed out to Paige by Professor Munroe. And so, yes, the worst part was over. She was sitting at a breakfast nook, picking at her biscuit. All this meant, of course, that from here on out her morning was planned. She had taken care of STARTING IT and it hadn't even been too difficult.

Okay, okay. It hadn't been quite as difficult as she had expected, at least.

Paige surveyed her surroundings, attempting to do so discreetly. Unfortunately, the fact that she was simply picking her biscuit to pieces without actually putting any of it in her mouth probably gave her away to anyone with at least medium observation skills. Though the school mansion and her bedroom and bed and the bathroom were luxury beyond anything Paige had ever seen (and the biscuit WOULD have been the best she'd ever eaten), though she probably should have been terrified of her upcoming classes, she was distracted by something else entirely: THE PEOPLE. It seemed anyone who landed in her field of vision must have some fantastic, amazing story and Paige found herself just wondering about everything and everyone.

Where did he come from? Why was her hair green? What was THAT little boy's power?! I wonder if they are brother and sister? This is so much different from high school already, but WHY?!

Paige felt a notch more miserable as it occured to her that she didn't know the slightest thing about the SPECIFICS of what to do next. She was never comfortable, and it was impossible for her to imagine herself ever seeming to belong to the school the way the students floating around her did. Some of them were even giving her small, quick smiles (none of which she was even able to return)! NO, she reminded herself. It didn't matter what happened next and it didn't matter if she never did fit in or no one ever talked to her or she ended up flunking out. She had done it. She had COME and she was HERE and she was going to try. No matter what, tomorrow morning would have to be easier than today, because at least she would have tried.

The worst part was over. Paige picked up her orange juice and took a sip.
